Julius. Why in the world would a Philadelphia station carry a team that is half way across the country. If anything they would carry Penn State, or have a national game of the week with different teams every week. Plus Notre Dame football is on TV every week, I don't think it would get any ratings on the radio. This is Pennsylvania not Indiana.
Explain to me, why does every other major radio market air the Westwood One broadcast every week and not Philly and should the other radio markets stop airing national play by play sports on the radio?
There you go again Julius with that unchecked assumption that everyother market does it except Philly, to prove some point about Philly. Just like with 60 minutes, nascar rain delays races, and the other things you think every market does, your wrong. Lets take a look at just the top 20 markets, as listed on this board for example.
NYC: YES
LA: NO
Chicago: YES
San Francisco: NO
Dallas-Fort Worth: NO
Houston: NO
Philadelphia: NO
Washington/Baltimore: NO
Atlanta: YES
Detroit: YES
Boston: YES
Miami-Ft. Lauderdale: NO
Puerto Rico: NO
Seattle-Tacoma: NO
Phoenix: YES
Minneapolis-St. Paul: YES
San Diego: NO
Nassau-Suffolk/Long Island: NO
Tampa: NO
St. Louis: YES
Hmmm, counting Philly, it appears 12 out of the 20 biggest markets don't air any ND games(and lets be fair here, some of those markets are 2 markets in one), and even the ones that do don't necessarily air all of them. SO lets ee, only 8 of the top 20 markets air any ND games. Hmmm I guess Philly is in the majority, and not the only one that doesn't. Ofcoarse I didn't bother to look up if any rimshot stations reach those markets. Afterall, if it isn't good enough for Philly, then it can't be good enough for other markets. So do us all a favor, and in the future before you throw out the everyother market does/doesn't do it, please confirm so.
Also, as mentioned above, Philly isn't a college sports city. Even 610/950 almost never talk about it, because there isn't enough interest.
