KYW has the Dish Network ads telling everyone that if you want the Penn State games, you need to buy their service. Comcast isn't going to carry them.

Yeah, they might actually have to displace a shopping or infomercial channel. Heaven forbid - we know what crowd pleasers those can be! Interestingly enough, BTN's ads also tell people to call their cable company and request that the service be added....to BASIC cable. Good luck with that! Even NFL Network just got tiered to the premium sports package.

Comcast is now showing all the traits of a great, big, monopoly.

This is from June, but comcast rep Michael , posted this on the comcast.net forums.
"Comcast is actively negotiating for the rights to carry this network. The current sticking point is with regard to placing this on our Sports tier vs. the basic Digital tier. This is very similar to the situation with the NFL Network.

The Big Ten Network is charging $1.10 per subscriber for customers within the eight state region (the cost would be roughly 30 cents per customer nationally). We do not believe that passing this cost on to all of our subsribers is fair. There are many customers (especially outside of the Big Ten region) who will not want to foot the bill for this. Our solution would be to include this on our Sports tier and to allow customers who want this programming to subscribe. The Big Ten Network is insisting that this be made available on the basic tier. Hopefully, we will be able to resolve this conflict in short order."
