NOV. PPM RATINGS - V-103 GOES UP, WNNX GOES DOWN

V-103 has moved back into the top spot after sharing it with WSB/NEWS for a month. Perhaps WSB had a post election setback.

The only other news I see is that WNNX has gone from 2.3 in September to a 1.5 in November. Their cume has gone down from 514,400 to 397,600 (wow). Who looks ripe for a format switch in 2011?

Looks like we know where Rock 100.5's numbers came from. Ouch. The Braves' playoff run certainly prolonged the boost...think WNNX will wait it out until April?

Hard to tell what's going on without breakdowns, but it looks like Project and Dave benefited from Rock's fall - especially the latter, whom the Falcons obviously helped surge ahead. Interestingly, it doesn't look appear that many Rock listeners went to The River, which also sank a bit.

Country battle doesn't seem to have changed too much, but The Fan collapsed and is now barely ahead of The Zone. Groove (now Wild) and Star both up a smidge, Q100's flat.

As far as WNNX, I don't understand why Cumulus just doesn't put 99X back on (at 100.5) - 99X has a 0.9 rating now with a terrible signal - seems like they could at least move up to 2.0 if they switched it back to 100.5

Sure Mr. Ho will provide more and better detail, but here's the Top 5 stations among 25 54 adults Oct to Nov.
V is #1 UP
WSB #2 UP
Praise #3 Flat
Kiss #4 Down
Q 100 #5 UP

I could see why V is up with 25-54 since from 10AM-2PM they spin some major old school R&B songs these days. The noon mix by DJ JC is nothing but old school for sure. If it wasn't for the 3-4 hip-hop songs per hour during the middays, you would think you were listening to direct competitor to Majic or Kiss.

That is weird...Rock 100.5 has gone heavy and OLD classic rock as of late (they were playing "Fire" by Hendrix the other day, and they've also been playing the Doors), which sort-of puts them in direct competition with the NEW 97.1 The River, at least demographically if not in terms of an exactly-matching playlist.

Rock 100.5 keeps tinkering with jerking around their playlist. The flavor of this month seems to be old classic rock that is too hard for River. Next month might be AAA and classic alternative. The month before seemed to be 80s heritage rock and hair bands.

My preference would be the 80s heritage rock, but they seem to keep trying that and having issues with it.

But WSB/WSBB gained share and cume...it's just that V103 got more.

I really can't see them doubling their ratings by going to the 99X playlist. The 97.9 signal reaches a pretty significant portion of the population so unless it is doubling the popoulation coverage area then I don't see the ratings doubling. Add in their two cash cow programming parts Braves Baseball and TRG and I do not find 99x's playlist that good of a match. Music is the filler to those two pieces of programming but it is in line with that older end of the male demo. Unlike Project 96.1 was to the Braves.

I do agree they change the playlist around too often.

Possibly because hair bands still blow all these years later?

For Rock 100.5, a coupla tips, take them as you want to (you won't want to...I know, because you're so MUCH SMARTER than the general public):
--Would you PLEASE, ultimately and finally, lose George Stein? Entertainment value is zero. Interest value is zero. OK? I get that George allows you to use his Caribbean condo, and that's cool. But, enough already. The George Stein files, George offering other advice--whatever--ENOUGH! He's about as entertaining as my left hemorrhoid.
--Same idea: I don't care what your sales department is telling you, lose the guys from Oxygen Financial on Thursdays. You're not a Sunday morning filler financial talk show. It's not compelling enough to maintain listeners. Make us rednecks laugh once. These guys BLOW!! Talk about a tuneout.

Jeez, this is basic, and if you can't figure THIS out--what else is left on the table? C'mon, I'm a fan, but enough is enough.

I'm actually pretty sure changing to 100.5 would double the population coverage - the 97.9 signal reaches the closer suburbs, but the sound quality is pretty poor - and IMO Alternative fans tend to be largely suburban (or at least a really high percentage I think) - right now it's got a 0.9 rating mostly from people inside the perimeter, and really loyal Alt. listeners outside the perimeter that don't mind compromising the sound quality

Anyhow, it'd be better than what Rock 100.5 is doing right now - we already have a Classic Rock and Active Rock station - WNNX is just being useless IMO riding the fence in between the two - if it weren't owned by Cumulus, I'd say maybe try pop/rhythmic CHR ;D

Agreed. That carp makes me put on Moby or Randy & Spiff. If Kaedy Kiely actually spoke on the air after about 7:30 I'd put her on too.

George Stein and Oxygen Financial are not on the air because anyone thinks they are good programming. They are on there because they are paid advertisers who are paying for that airtime. Those 2 advertisers may represent the majority of the entire ad revenues for the station.

That's pretty sad if that's the case...if 1) Rock100.5 has that hard of a time getting advertisers 2) to the point where they have to resort to selling infomercials that 3) are that much of a chore to listen to.

George Stein has been on TRG for years...even back in the Clear Channel days. Has nothing to do with sales. I can't speak to Oxygen Financial.

Ha... I've tuned into the RG's about 4 times in the last year and EVERY time George was doing a segment. I'm with ya man. Step up with some fresh material boys... you're better than that.
