November 9th, 2018- WJBR flipped to Jingle Bell Radio

Two days from when this is posted, last year, WJBR went all Christmas. Do we think they will do the same this year? Nov 9 2018 was a Friday. So, either tomorrow (nov 8) or Sat 9th, I think there is a small chance they might flip. Or maybe more than a small chance.

I think it was right around this time last year that WISX stunted all Christmas before the breeze blew in. Did that affect when WJBR flipped?

Why are they still simulcasting the main signal on their HD2, since Disney went away. So many good holes to fill, one is Alternative, since Graffiti radio went kaput on 93.7 HD2, plus 104.5 always does well in the Wilmington market. Another is Classic Oldies or Standards, both the former WOGL and 1290 also did very good down that way.

Yes, 2018 was an anomaly. There was speculation that WISX was just stunting but I think most folks thought they were doing Christmas music for the season before introducing a new format. WJBR pretty clearly likes to flip as close to real-time with WBEB...so both stations reacted quickly. Unless WISX pulls a reindeer out of their hat, I don't expect either WJBR or WBEB to flip so early this year (or ever again, actually).

If no one else in town jumps in, I would expect WBEB (and thus WJBR) to flip no earlier than November 21--and maybe as late as November 27. And they're pretty clearly not putting it on their HD2/webstream anymore.

Miguelito, now that I think about it, you're right. Also, thanksgiving is late this year. So it makes sense for a later season flip.
