Numbers Don't Lie: Missanelli Soundly Beat Eskin In Afternoon Drive

According to an item posted today on Philly.com, Mike Missanelli on 97.5 The Fanatic more than doubled the ratings (3.1 vs. 1.4) of WIP's soon-to-be-leaving-afternoon-drive Howard Eskin.

Not only that - Missanelli outrated Eskin in the 25-54 demographic by a 4-to-1 margin - 8.0 vs. 2.1, to be exact.

And CBS insists that Eskin's move "was unrelated to ratings," and that "Eskin was ahead of Missanelli in his time slot." Yeah, whatever... so Missanelli was beating only Ike Reese in afternoon drive, then? ::)

Outside of his breaking news, listening to Eskin was depressing. When Mikey Miss took over @ 97.5, it was like a breath of fresh air, even though i didn't like Missenelli at the time. He's since done a pretty nice image make over and pwned the time slot.

Ike works very hard, but even he couldn't pull up the dead weight that was Eskin. At leats when Ike came on i was able to flip to WIP during 97.5 commercial breaks. Ike deserves a shot somewhere, but he can't carry a drive time show by himself.

Eskin has done well in Philly for years, simply because he was the only game in town. Having another talk station has shown just how weak he was in his time slot.

Usually, CBS is successful in exposing weaknesses of competing sports radio stations (ex. Detroit, Boston). The exact opposite is happening in Philly.
