NY1 on my line-up, but I don't live in NYC

Just noticed after I changed the channel of my local news that NY1 is now on my line-up. Both the HD and SD feeds. But I don't live in New York City, live about 850 miles away. Long story short I just wonder why Time Warner Cable where I live has added NY1. I think it might a mistake but not sure.

TWC has carried NY1 statewide across New York since not long after 9/11. Some upstate systems (but not mine in Rochester) even carry NY1 HD.

I live in New Jersey (just across the river from Manhattan) and NY1 is in my Time-Warner line up as well, both at Channel 1 and in HD on Channel 701.

They even do a NJ insert of several minutes at least once an hour. Obviously these are not live around the clock. They do send out a camera crew to cover stories in Bergen and Hudson Counties, sometimes in response to a press release, sometimes it might be breaking news.

I also have News 12 for local NJ news. I suppose T-W has some arrangement with Cablevision to carry the channel. And on Ch. 95, I have NY1 Noticias, the Spanish language news channel for NYC. I don't think they have any NJ insert. And I get the T-W Road and Rail Channel on Channel 91. They don't even bother to cover any NJ roadways. It's all traffic in the five boroughs.

I guess T-W figures the channels are free for them to distribute, so why not? For many years the NY Daily News was the #1 newspaper in New Jersey.

We even received it for about a month post 9/11 here in Southern California on the South Bay (Los Angeles) Time Warner systems.

I bet it has something to do with the 9/11 anniversary.

Echoing Fybush's comment above: The Time Warner Cable system in Orangeburg has the regional YNN 24-hour news channel, but if I recall, it's located on the channel lineup right next to NY1.

We are getting it up here in Eastern Maine on TWC, but it's way up in the digital tier. Just noticed it the other day...Has huge "Time Warner Cable" logos on both side of the compressed picture...Not very viewable on my NON-HD old 27 inch set.

I noticed that too, on the cable/movie preview channel, up above all the international channels TWC just added
