NYC Area Members of Congress Want Pirate Crackdown

Unless they can find out a way for the FCC to expand its power over the Internet by enforcing the FM spectrum, the FCC isn't going to do much.

Of course they won't.

The disconnect between the Congress-critters' stated need (crackdown on the pirates) and their constant votes to slash the FCC's budget, year after year, just boggles the mind. When they end up effectively defunding the FCC down the road and the pirate stations blot out all the licensed stations, the pirate operators having gotten the message loud and clear, what will the Congress-critters do then? Send another letter demanding action? Feign their outrage for the cameras? Or will they finally realize the consequences of their actions? (Not holding my breath on the latter.)

Which is why the license holders should be able to at least do something to protect their own coverage, which we discussed a few weeks ago. No one else is going to do it.
