Oakland A's games, why are there so few Oakland A's games broadcasted in Sacram

Hey Guys. my name is Phillip from Galt and I like radio and I call sports 1140 I like the radio board.

now my question is about Sacramento area tv. Our local teams in baseball are the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A's.

in Sacramento area you can turn on the tv and almost always catch the San Francisco Giants.

But why is it that you can not find an A's game ? I mean you would think the A's didn't exsit , it stinks .

I have beef with the ComCastSports Net Bay Area and channel 12 CW 31 they are supposed to broadcast A's games and so far all I see is Giants?

Well I like both teams, I like the Giants and the A's and I would like to watch an A's games.

Why are there so few A's games on tv in Sacramento area and on tv general.

Well what is the A's radio station in Sacramento how can I get my A's fix too ?

can anyone please help me out and explain why A's are hardly on tv anymore ??? Also I even turned it to Action 36 in the Bay Area they didn't even have A's games and they are supposed ot have exclusive A's games on tv ?

I mean I don't know why tv stations have something against Oakland or againt the A's ?? just wodering.

God bless you and take care from your friend Phillip from Galt ! have a nice day too.

Re: Oakland A's games, why are there so few Oakland A's games broadcasted in Sac

CW31 can only carry a select number of A's games due to their programming commitments to the CW (which is owned in part by CW31 parent CBS). Comcast SportsNet Bay Area has 75 games; KICU and its affiliates can carry up to 45 games but not all of the affiliates (Reno, Chico, Fresno, Medford OR, Salinas/Monterey and Eureka) will carry all the KICU games.
The A's have NO radio affiliate in Sacramento this year; KHTK 1140 is not planning any game coverage this year as they have Monarchs, Kings and NASCAR conflicts. Phil, you could try 970AM in Modesto or 1420AM in Stockton. You might also be able to get 1550AM out of San Francisco for A's radio games.

The Giants telecasts are generally more profitable for the local affiliates, as they get a little more commercial time to sell in each game from the Giants, who retain the broadcast rights (games not on CSN Bay Area are now on NBC-owned KNTV 11 San Jose).

Re: Oakland A's games, why are there so few Oakland A's games broadcasted in Sac

One of these days I'd like to know why A's fans blame everything on the Giants?? Is it because their broadcasting and marketing departments work a little harder and get what few dates they can get in Sacramento before the A's get a foot in the door? The Giants have been on KNBR since '79 and the A's have bounced around about a half-dozen flagships since then ... I can't even remember the last time the A's had a full-time radio affiliate in Sacto. KSFO and KFRC would roll in well there, so there wasn't a need. KHTK's first priority will always be the Kings (at least until someone else picks up the rights) and things going on in Sacramento and the A's were the ugly stepchild.

I wonder how much influence the River Cats have as well? In addition to taking a station that may otherwise go to an Oakland broadcast, can they also limit the number of telecasts/broadcasts of the major leagues?

The Rivercats have NO influence over what Sacto gets from the A's. They can barely get their own product out, much less deal with anyone elses! They put their english radio broadcasts on KCCL-92.1 -- KHITS to the unwashed -- which covers about half of the market! Can't reach Rocklin, Elk Grove, and portions of eastern Sacramento county cleanly. It's got a spanish radio station; unfortunately it is KCFA-106.1, an Arnold-licensed rimshot stick with similar coverage issues.

Rivercats get TV love only during the 10pm/11pm newscasts, because they provide the in-stadium video feed to the TV newsrooms on a direct link from Raley Field.
