Oasis now like KHHT L.A. as of Midnight 12/26

Greg:
It's the OLD music that make Oasis successful. As an adult, unfamiliarity will breed dislike...I don't know it, I don't like it. Why play new music when you have 4 other FM's doing that?(KLUC, KVEG, HOT, AND NOW) Oasis is the only one of it's kind, instead one of 5 buttons to push on the dial. Carmi, an Connie are seasoned veterans and know what they are doing, and the numbers prove it. If they get someone local at night for a slow jams show, Sunny will never beat them.
Slow Jams have ALWAYS done well at night. Rob Holiday on Sunny, till CC cut the budget. J.J. Austin on the old 94.1, and Sean Andre on the old 103.5 before the station was sold. JJ's show sounded the best by far...She had success at a few Jerry Clifton stations before Vegas.
I have worked on stations with signal problems. You have to specialize in one thing and one thing only. You can't be a slave to two masters. It's not easy trying to compete with stations that are a full C. (100kw)
The other urban AC's failed because they played current music. I GUARANTEE that numbers will go down if Oasis ever tries this. While some of the "curiousity cume" may fade in and out, and most likely they will settle in the 4's(unless they team up with channel 3 again) TV Cume never hurts. Riviera finally hired a P.D. not a wannabe P.D. like Duncan. In these times, you need someone professional, check your egos at the door. Congrats to Carmi and company on their success!

I'm pretty sure KOAS will soon air "The Art Laboe Show"... I'm pretty sure it would do well in Las Vegas.

They moved up 5.8-6.8 in Febuary and are now ranked #2 (#1 English language).

But not in 25-54 ... where the money is... that honor is a tie between KKLZ and MIX.

Does the OASIS have better 25-54 numbers than they did when they were Smooth Jazz?

You nailed this prediction. I hear the Art Laboe show will soon air on KOAS...six nights a week.

Much better - very strong.

Their numbers are pretty decent. I listened for a week while i worked around the house. It really started to grind on me after a couple of days however. I'll admit that I hate Disco and they play way too much of that. Too much En Vogue too. After a week I switched over to KKLZ which still plays horrible disco, but it seems like a bit less since these guys flipped, or is it just me?

You may be right, but if they do play less disco on KKLZ the difference is very slight.I haven't noticed any change. They certainly play a lot more disco (which I like except for the most burned out songs) than they did when they first flipped from classic rock to classic hits in 2007, they were a lot more rock based back then.

I am surprised that KOAS has had no ratings impact on KKLZ. I never would have expected that. KKLZ is doing as good as ever at #1 25-54.

I heard, It's Alright by the Impressions on the way home last night. I hope that more music from the late 50's & early 60's will be on the way with the addition of Art Laboe. I remember listening to him on KRLA the Big 1110 in L.A. (Pasadena) before the station switched call letters and format. The Oasis has a good signal in the Southern valley area, and if what I've read in the previous replies, the station is on the right track with the gains made in the ratings.

I took a little listen to this station while I was there last week, it actually sounds pretty good. This is how rhythmic AC SHOULD sound, back in the day hits with NO currents. Apparently some rhythmic ACs don't follow that (look at 106.7 The Beat in Detroit and Groove 105.7 in Atlanta to see what I mean.) Also, I noticed they have a good signal - pretty clear in the Strip.
