Obit: Elmer Dills at 82; restaurant and travel critic on KABC

I say let's have a meal in his honor! ;D

Seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed his reporting. He will be missed. A true professional.

:'( I'm very saddened by the news. I just got back from vacation, and I'm just getting this news. Elmer Dills turned me on to some good restaurants in this city, most notably 'The Buggy Whip' near LAX and a personal favorite of mine. I just had dinner there last month, and on the wall you see Elmer Dills' 1980's review of 'The Buggy Whip' and his picture with the restaurant's owner (He's still kicking after many years) and another Ch. 7 weather alum (and legend) 'Dr. George' Fischbeck (correct me on the last name) - His picture is on the wall of fame at this restaurant. I'll go back this week to pay homage to Elmer Dills (Salud to you, Elmer...See you at the big diner in the sky) Joe G.

In the midst of the pennant races and all of the politics going on, I somehow missed this news. I really enjoyed watching and listening to him growing up. He truly had a passion for his work. What a loss! We're all richer people for being blessed with his presence so many years. RIP, Elmer!
