SCITUATE, R.I. -
A motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon in an accident on Scituate Avenue, according to police.
Mark Gaudet, 56, of Cranston, was killed in the accident that happened at about 1:20 p.m.
Gaudet was on a motorcycle behind an SUV traveling on Scituate Avenue. According to Chief David Randall of the Scituate Police Department, the motorcycle traveled to the left trying to avoid the SUV as it was making a left turn.
Randall said the motorcycle clipped the SUV and struck a guardrail. Police said Gaudet was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Randall said investigators believe there was some significant sun glare at the time of the accident.
