Obit: Gloria Winters-Vernon, actress in the 1950s TV series 'Sky King,' dies

Before that she was Chester A. Riley's daughter Babs on
the Gleason version of "Life Of Riley" (Lugene Sanders played
the part on the William Bendix version--wonder if she's still
with us?).

It's ironic that this story was featured here since just last night I was just watching a rerun of "Sky King" on our cable access channel.

I wonder how many former actors from 1950's and early 60s TV series eventually just left show business either for other careers or just retired? That would make an interesting post on here if someone did some research.

Sorry to learn of her passing. I always enjoy watching "Sky King". You'll note I put that that in the present tense as I have some DVD's of the show. R.I.P.

I didn't know that Sky King was based on a true-life person, Jack Cones, the "Flying Constable" of Twentynine Palms, CA during the 30's or that actor Kirby Grant was a licensed pilot (although I don't think he actually flew on the show).

Used to watch that show religiously every Saturday morning as a kid. And Gloria had that quintessential look of the pony-tailed teenager from the 50's. She was adorable.
