Richard L. "Dick" Gifford; Amarillo radio announcer, 1949-1956; KTVT-TV, Fort Worth, 1956-1986

Richard L. "Dick" Gifford of Fort Worth passed away May 11, 2013.

The obit mentions that after he graduated from Northwestern University, he returned to Amarillo and became a radio announcer (no station(s) given). He transferred to KTVT-TV in Fort Worth in 1956 and later became local sales manager until his retirement after 30 years. Known for his distinctive bass voice, Dick was active in barbershop quartets, singing jingles for radio and television, and with the Dave Garroway Show in Chicago.
