Obit: Roger Allan Bump, 79, former reporter & news director at WRKO

From the Boston Globe:

Mr. Bump, who was known in broadcast circles as Roger Allan, died Tuesday of heart failure Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H. He was 79 and lived in Lebanon, N.H., and previously in Sudbury.
He worked at several local radio stations, first as a disc jockey and then working his way up to reporter, news director, and eventually public affairs director at WRKO-AM. He worked at WRKO for 29 years.

Glad someone else noticed. Posted the notice last week and it went to the bottom of the file it seems.
In this age of News Directors and the like whose favorite phrase is "Do you know who I am..." as they are dragged away by the police for public intoxication the Roger Allan Bump's are few in this world and must not be forgotten.

I am very saddened to hear of Roger's passing. A wonderful man, with an infectious passion for broadcasting and the power of radio. But, more than that, he loved people, especially people that shared his passion for the business. He was a mentor and inspiration to me, and I am sure many others.

May God bless you Roger. Thank you for all that you did for me.
