October 22: This Day in TV History (DIY edition)

I couldn't find an Oct. 22 TDITVH thread from Stanislav after reading the last year's worth of threads, so a DIY thread is apparently in order. Here's a couple events to start off (feel free to comment/add your own--I may add a few more later):

1942: Actress/singer and original "Mouseketeer" Annette Funicello is born in Utica, NY.

1962: President John F. Kennedy, in a televised address, informs the nation that American spy planes have discovered Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, and orders a quarantine of the Communist island (Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles on Oct. 28).

1981: Actor Michael Fishman (best known as D.J. Connor on "Roseanne") is born as Michael Desmond Quatil in Manzanillo, Cuba (he moved to Long Beach, CA at age 4).

Fishman and Roseanne Barr are still very close to this day. I think Roseanne even paid for his wedding some years back but don't quite me on that LOL Roseanne I believe she is also still close to Sara Gilbert too.

On a similar note I would LOVE to know more about the relationship between Roseanne and Laurie "Jackie" Metcalf. I have heard two stories about that, one is that those two really hate each other and haven't spoke since Roseanne ended while others claim that two are still friends to this day and that their "feud" was started by ABC.
