Oh my god this just in francene on whas has passed away:(

According to WHAS Radio, Francene Cucinello, the host of “Francene Show” has passed away.

The announcement of her death was posted on WHAS.com.

According to WHAS, Cucinello fell ill early Monday morning and was taken to Norton Audubon Hospital, and later transferred to Norton Hospital in downtown Louisville, where she died.

yes this is probably not the time, but i think it has to be said- who do they replace her with, local or more syndicated programming? i would hope local because with francene they barely had more local hours than syndicated (13-11 in favor of local).

Ok, this is really not the time to be discussing what they're going to do. I can assure you they don't know what they're going to do.

Everyone at Clear Channel is undoubtedly in extreme shock over the loss of their friend and co-worker. I can tell you from experience that it hurts a great deal. And there will be plenty of time to speculate about her replacement in the coming weeks.

Here is the Courier-Journal article about Francene.

We need to keep the family in our prayers. As hard as it is for Francene's associates and friends, imagine how hard it is for her parents and siblings with such a sudden death. I cannot imagine their grief right now.

Used to work with her down here in Nashville. We're pretty floored too. Always a source of contagious energy, in a good way...

Listened to her often while driving through the Louisville area from Chicago. This is very sad, I wish to send my
deepest condolences to her and her family, and all her fans in Louisville. It makes it even harder to stomach because
she was too young. RIP Francene, you will be missed.

Sad to hear of her passing. I, too, hope they find a live and local replacement; I believe Paul Harris has earned a shot.

I bet they will broadcast the service live from southeast christian church. Paul Harris would not be a good choice for the 9 a.m. shift he does not live here in louisville he lives and broadcasts from st louis. It needs to be someone that lives here!!!

I would tune in and look forward to francene and be dissappointed when there was a fill in especially paul harris. I sure wish i would have paid special attention to her show a week ago friday for obvious reasons!!!For as she said life is short no matter how long or short you live they all go so fast and before we know it where have the years all gone???

Dude, what are you smoking? ::)

I actually think hotpatrick might be spot on. It would be a classy move by WHAS for all the listeners who maybe can't get to the memorial in person.

I think they need to figure out what to do with her slot fast... and believe that slot should stay live and local. But, again... who do you put there?

They are running promos that they are going to broadcast the service live.

OK.... doing a remote at the funeral of a staff member? Who did they sell it to?

"And now live from the Ganley Chevrolet Sanctuary, here's Pastor Dave Stone with today's eulogy..."

Will they be hanging roll-a-banner and giving away bumper stickers and t-shirts?

Wow.

I guess I have to apologize to Hot Patrick.

I don't think this is the actual funeral. I think it's just a memorial service for Francene. I understand she has already been taken back to New Jersey for a private funeral with her family.

I still think it's a bit tacky.

WHAS cited the family's statement saying "a celebration of Francene's life" would happen Monday.

FWIW, WHAS does air some programming by Southeast Christian church, called "The Living Word", on Sunday mornings (8-8:30 AM). So, there is an affiliation there already. I would assume that WHAS got permission to air the service live.

Hahn, you need some serious help.

I don't thnk it's "tacky" at all.

If she is as young and beloved as you people say, it's a wonderful, respectful idea.

Personalization. It's really great local radio.

It's only tacky if they sell a sponorship to it or run spots during it. If they don't, it's a local news event and WHAS should be commended for blowing out the inventory to carry it live.
