Oh my god this just in francene on whas has passed away:(

I just wanted to say greg in this time of sadness your post made me laugh!!! ;D

Also in 1991 ron clay when he worked for qmf died but he had been sick and that was very hard for troy robuck. Terry talked about it on an interview that is on www.lkyradio.com he said he wishes he would have handled leaving the show with no name on qmf differently.

Both Ron and Francene shared something in common they both loved life and what they did for a living and that came thru on the air!!!

I have to say that it came across pretty well on the air, far better than I thought it would. It was a great tribute to her, and really served to highlight the depth of their loss, both as a friend and as a talent.

Now Kelly has his work cut out for him.

It came across as a very good celebration of her life but it really made me sad in some parts and tear up:( I thought it was awesome that john yarmuth came and paid homage to her. Two people on different sides of the political spectrum. I would love to live life as she had.

Now just offer the job to joe elliott. I feel it is mandatory they get someone live and local. Someone that has lived here for awhile!!!

Do not get paul harris i will never ever listen again!!!He is not local and not that good!!!

I don't thnk it's "tacky" at all.

If she is as young and beloved as you people say, it's a wonderful, respectful idea.

Personalization. It's really great local radio.
Well stated Prais...couldn't agree more.

I remember joe elliot doing oldies on weekend nights years ago.. Anyone remember joe donavons Rock and Roll revival in the overnights... Not to hijack the thread... sorry bout that...

I attended the service and it was so very well done. How can a 43 year old, lively and beautiful lady be with us one day and gone the next? All of the speakers were visibly shaken by her loss, even John Yarmuth. How ironic for the story to come out 2 days before her death that she had been asked by some local Democrats to run against Mr. Yarmuth! Though I never met her in person, we did correspond via email, and I really do miss her. She was the type of person that was needed on the air. RIP dearest Francene.

Well kudos to whas for doing something for her .. Rest in Peace.... :'(

Top-rated, heritage Louisville News/Talk leader 84WHAS seeks its next great 9AM-12Nn talkshow host. You must be plugged into current events, entertaining, and stimulating. If you just regurgitate talking points, don't bother. We want an original thinker who preps thoroughly and has something unique to say. You should be ready to work hard, maintain a high profile in the community, and support the show on the air, online, and on social networks. Only the best need apply. Time to start suggesting/predicting. . . . . . .

at least they are staying local. my personal selfish wish is that someone of the liberal persuation gets the spot to counter all of that conservative crap whas airs. its amazing how a union town like louisville has not even a liberal show on air.

We can always hope Joe Elliott already has the gig & this ad is just for the EEO folks...

OTOH, they may already have the satellite reciever tuned and this ad is just for the EEO folks. I'll with hold judgment until they get someone plugged in that slot. Just because they have the ad, does not mean they are going local.

No one listens to liberal garbage. That's why air america went belly up.

Actually, it was poor management along with a chaser of bad AM signals and no promotions. Plus, the line up had a couple of highlights, the rest was fill.

Back to the armchair quarterbacking, my vote is for Joe Elliott.

So liberal talk radio is that great untapped resource that has never worked because nobody ever did it correctly. A potential gold mine just waiting for someone to do it.

Kelly, do you hear that? You could be that man in American radio that makes it happen. Fate is knocking on your door. Destiny awaits. The time is now.

Hmmm.....sarcasm.

I was just pointing out why Air America failed instead of the generalization suggested. It's not a left or right issue, Air America had Dom Perignon dreams on an Old Milwaukee budget.

Air america failed because it had a bad business model from day one it had nothing to do with being liberal if that was the case ed schultz and stephanie miller would not still have shows but they are awesome at what they do just like rush is great at what he does.

Some left of center people do not seem to be very business savy!!!

When air america started they would only sell the whole network lineup or none of it.You could not just say run al franken.

Wonder when they will name the new 9-12 host on whas???

But whas does let denton randall host and he is the only liberal on 84 whas.Joe is more center right but fair!!!

Only a little sarcasm, but with a very serious point. If liberal talk is so viable, why isn't it being done successfully across America?

I'm certain that if Carls thought a liberal show would get the best ratings / make the most money, that would be the direction they would head. My guess is he won't do that.

Agreed. I really hope Joe Elliott will be the replacement, but there is a chance he might go with a John Zeigler 2.0.

As far as liberal talk's success, it's more about the audience. The pied piper concept presented by those like Rush Limbaugh doesn't translate well to a liberal perspective.

The last two people who held that slot full-time were women (Jane Norris, Francene). Isn't it a rule in radio that you have to have a "chick" in middays?

Seriously, Francene will be a tough act to follow. By the PDs ad, looks like they want somebody to not only do a great show...with all the prep involved...but to get involved in the community off the air. You can't just "do your four and be out the door" -- or three in WHAS' case.
