OK I finally have something to say on a few issues concerning local radio.

1st, Dave Pratt rocked the 80's ;D

2nd, KFYI, is screwing up things big time:

a) Barry needs 3 freaking hours!(bring back DR. SCIENCE!)
b) We need Kim Komando for 3 hours live!!!!!!
c) Who in the heck decided to preempt the first hour of the Drudge report? I am extremely pissed at this!!!!!

3rd) Now to KTAR

a) "The Kid" need to take Pat McSnooze's afternoon spot. The Kid deserves a drive time slot!
b) Morning and afternoon news shows need to go away, if you listen more than 10 minutes it rehashed news, very boring!!!

I know there is more but I am tired.

1) Dave did indeed rock in the 80s -- a random observation on your part, but okay.

2) KFYI may be screwing a few things up for sure -- we can partly thank HD Radio for that.

a) Barry doesn't want three hours, as he opted to take his show down to two hours in 2003.

b) Do we really NEED that? I'm a big live radio advocate and all, but it's a computer show, does it really matter if someone hears about how great windows is live or on tape delay?

c) That is a good question, the entire issue of how they run Matt Drudge's program is just bizarre. I guess the 23 year old program director has his cookies and milk by then and is in bed so he really doesn't care... as far as he's concerned they shut the transmitter off after 7pm anyway.

3rd) KTAR is a mess, but a fixable one.

a) KTAR has a very long-standing relationship with ol' Gerald--he must have some pictures of a few of the higher ups at TMISU, that's the only reason I can think of why he is still on the air... that and the fact that Sun City's population hasn't all rolled the proverbial seven yet.

b) News blocks are very repetitive, however that's how KTAR builds tune-ins--to put it simply, KTAR gets a lot of listeners for those 10-15 minute periods, and apparently that's what they are attempting to do. I agree though, news blocks are just not all that compelling after 10-20 minutes.

A third hour of Kim is better than an hour of Jan D'Atri raving about ravioli and telling you how to make terra cotta napkin holders.

But, Leo Laporte is much better than Kim, good to have both.

Forget 3rd hour for Barry, how about a third hour for Dennis Miller?

Drudge should have third hour, since Broomhead's show is exactly the same every hour, every week.

Yes to another hour of Kim, Jan seems like a nice lady but ,ugh........
Leo LaPorte and Kim tie in my book, and Leo is so Mac oriented, I almost prefer Kim. He is a great host, though.
Dennis Miller would be a welcome addition.

We need Drudge back. I about died last night when Broomhead previewed his "interview with soldiers" or whatever it was, to start next week. I feel so evil, he is such a wonderful guy and I support the troops, but Drudge was kind of a fun escape and I want to hear it in real time.

An hour of Drudge is indeed pre-empted, but it's the third hour not the first.

Is Dudeboss content with this programming screw-up? No, he then goes one step
--or screw-up--further by airing the first two hours on a one-hour delay.

Try to pull in KKOB 770 at 7:00 for live Drudge (but they pre-empt the third hour!),
then after monthly sunset (7:45 in July) when 860 The Loop goes to DA and shuts
off the @#$% I-CRAP, try KOA 850. Also KFI 640--although they're not yet back up
to 50 gallons from what I've read.

Is the show streamed on those affils that do (stream) and air it live, or is that a
a contractual no-no a la El Rushbo?

i'd only listen to kfyi for drudge, now i don't listen at all.

550 drops an hour of the very popular matt drudge show in favor of the second hour of the previous weeks best of art bell show already in progress.?

i don't get it.? ..neither does kfyi.

also, i do listen to michael savage, but not on kyfi.

i like my shows in real-time.

kfyi made a huge mistake for not airing michael live.

JD Heyworth need to be drop from KFYI and replace by Joe Cummery to improve the ratings.

That's basically what KFYI did the last two winter (standard time) periods;
how they're screwing it up now during the current summer (DST) period
is as described in reply #4 above.

KKOB 770 ABQ was coming in pretty good during the 7:00 (PT) hour
tonight (July 15), as they aired the first hour of Drudge...live.

Another alternate 50-gallon listening source for Drudge live is WBAP 820
Fort Worth, although their website has conflicting info on whether they
air all three hours or just the first two (a la KKOB).

Meanwhile, back at 55/FYI, they're unveiling a new on-air positioner for
Sunday evenings:

"News/talk 550 KFYI...an hour late and an hour short" ;)

I've been following Joe Crummey for long, long time (about 15 years or so I'd guess, since he debuted weekends on KFI before Wayne Resnick), but while I believe that the J.D. Hayworth Show should be banned by Geneva Convention, I didn't think that Joe was all that much better.

Yeah, Joe certainly lived up to his name- Crummey! ;D

That said, I think I would rather listen to him than J.D. Hayworth.
