Again, much like WAEV/Savannah, or WNOK/Columbia. Both which have a huge black population. And still play everything from Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Imagine Dragons, Drake, Muse, Nicki Minaj, and even Mumford & Sons...all on one station.
I'm assuming you do realize that Columbia SC has no Hot AC, Rhythmic, or Adult-Leaning CHR - same with Savannah (except for a low-rated HAC station that appears to be extremely conservative from their website)
Smaller market CHRs can play a wider variety of hits, but if you don't like what's on, remember that there aren't many other choices on the dial - which is why stations can play Drake and Imagine Dragons and not have to worry about people changing the station to a Rhythmic or a Hot AC
If Q100, Star, and possibly one of the Urbans disappeared, then Clear Channel would be in the position you're describing
I hear you...I really do. Just kinda sucks I guess. I've lived everywhere from Augusta to Philly to Wilkes-Barre then New York City for 12 years....(spoiled by Z100, BIG TIME). I never really lived in a market where you have flip the dial to 10 different stations to hear "All the hits". Plus, it doesn't help that I'm ULTRA passionate about it as well. :

I griped about Q100 here for years and now, even with a shiny new Clear Channel CHR, It's apparent that it will never be the way I was used to.
HAS to be this market.
There's a lot of conservative suburbs, and people that want to sing along to what's familiar - then combined with the fact that it's a Top 10 market with 8-10 stations covering current hits as opposed to 2-3 stations
Then, on top of all that, the black community is extremely loyal to the Urban stations, and the Hispanic/Asian communities (though large in Gwinnett), are nowhere near large enough to support a "Hispanic/Asian-leaning CHR", like Kiss/Dallas, Kiss/L. A., KTU, etc.
If there was a CHR targeting Midtown, Buckhead, or even parts of Gwinnett, I think you'd probably love it - but the ATL metro area is huge (almost half the State?), so programmers can't strictly target the city, like Z100 or KIIS do
