Old 1940's RADIO TRANSMISSION SITE IN MONTVALE, NJ

When I was a kid, in the 1950's, there was a wierd antenna site way behind Tice Farms, on the west side of Montvale, near the Upper Saddle River line. It consisted of many very tall wooden utility-type poles (tallest ones I ever saw), with lots of strange configurations, and a transmitter building with at least 20 glass insulators on one side of it. I'm quit sure it wasn't anything AM/FM. Antenna wire was high going from pole to pole. It was all taken down by the early 1960's, and now lots of high-prices homes are there. Anyone know what this was?
