Old Atlanta Radio Station Item on E-bay (WAGA-590AM)

Hey,

Just browsing e-bay and saw an old ashtray from WAGA-AM. I'm not sure what year this is from, but WAGA 590-AM was started in 1938, and later became WPLO and now WDWD (Radio Disney)...

This isn't my auction, I'm just posting it here so interested old-timers like me can look at the picture. It probably belongs in a display case at 1551 Briarcliff Road...

here's the auction:

and here's a big photo of the item (from the auction page)

again, the auction isn't mine or anybody i know... just posting for any interest...

Thank you, Amos! What a great find! For $18 I got something that I will treasure. I learned a great deal from a friend who worked at WAGA-AM in the 50's, and this is a great piece of memorabilia over 50 years old.

hey glad you were able to get it. I figured people on the board would enjoy LOOKING at the pic, but that's especially cool that you decided to get it, and even more that you had a friend that worked there.

i wonder how that piece of atlanta ended up in ocala, fl!

It is a cool piece. I'm the guy you outbid. My $16.50 and $17.50 didn't cut it. Oh well, win some, lose some.

I can only hope that your reasons for wanting it were not as heartfelt as mine. The friend I spoke of is departed, and he taught me a lot about engineering. He had a WAGA lunch bucket with the Scottie character on it, and I admired it for many years.
