Oldies 103.3 now welcomes Donny Osmond to afternoon drive

Yup, Donny "I'm a little bit rock and roll" Osmond takes over afternoon drive from JJ Wright.

Ok, I'm partially kidding. Donny does join the lineup (according to WODS's jock page) every weekday from 4:45-5 with some sort of entertainment report. That, of course, would be during afternoon drive which is JJ's shift.

JJ does post here occasionally. Sorry JJ. ;D

Why? Do they really need that? Another act of desperation! Just play the music....enough syndicated bs already!!

Relax my friend, it's just a five or ten minute chat with Mr. Osmond everyday at around 4:45 PM. How is that 'syndication?'

As someone who plays The Osmonds virtually every week for the past 26 years on "The Lost 45s"-- they did Rock...and even wrote some of their Top 20 hits, like "Crazy Horses," "Down The By The Lazy River" and "Hold Her Tight"--which had a drum beat Led Zeppelin ripped off. Every one of the Osmonds has been a guest on my show and they are great people.

It was just the Donny Osmond teen idol material and later Donny & Marie that gave them their bad reputation and ruined The Osmond brothers band as a cool, rock act.

Hey, I enjoyed the Donny and Marie variety show when I was a kid. Of course, I watched because I had a crush on Marie. :-[ :-*

And Barry, I for one appreciate Donny and Marie saying goodbye to me every Sunday night at the end of your show:

May tomorrow be a perfect day ;D

By saying Donny & Marie and Donny's teeny bopper solo hits like "Puppy Love" ruined The Osmond Brothers as a rock act, I just meant as a viable band that teenage guys could like...they became uncool.

I like Donny's stuff as well as the music from Donny & Marie. The Osmond family is a huge part of why "The Lost 45s" has been on the air since 1981!

Brian Wilson, special guest on November 9th!!

I remember Rankin-Bass made cartoons of both the Jackson 5 AND the Osmonds about the same year(1971-72)-a thin story line with always, I think it was,one or two songs per show that were really the first kid's rock videos of their kind- that I am sure, like the old 60's "Beatles" cartoon show, we'll never see again thanks to numerous cross-over rights issues unless on bootlegs or something. The Osmonds were sure big in the 70's -they and the Jacksons were competing family acts(though, not intentionally so). And they sure did do some hard rock-Crazy Horses being the most "metal".

The Donny and Marie Show sort of eclipsed the whole "Osmonds" act after awhile. The funniest coincidence was when they did this Star Wars themed show about Fall/Xmas 1977(The show got all the costumes and droids and such from Lucas) when Star Wars was all the rage and Donny and Marie were Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia respectively and we all thought..."hmmm"...and that was YEARS before we were told that Luke and Leia in THE RETURN OF THE JEDI were in fact, brother and sister!! Or maybe Lucas got the idea from Donny and Marie? LOL.

The best D&M stint was the Pepsi Twist ad with Ozzie Osborne imagining his two kids were in fact "The Osmonds" and Donny and Marie appear-and the look on Ozzie's face. That was actually funny when it first ran.
