What’s old is new again at Meredith's KTVK in Phoenix.

Former KTVK weekend AM anchor Olivia Fiero, who left for sister station KVVU in Vegas, is returning to ‘Arizona’s Family’ as the AM co-anchor.

Fiero replaces Kaley O’Kelley who recently left for Dallas (FIRST reported by FTVLive).

She’ll join Scott Pasmore as co-anchor of Good Morning Arizona.

OK, I must admit that I didn't see that one coming! Not even a random thought of Olivia returning to GMAZ.

Just a note that, at the end of her time at KTVK, Olivia was actually the weekday early morning anchor on GMAZ from 4:30am to 6am. (By that time, Tara had negotiated a contract that stipulated that she started at 6am). I believe she also co-anchor GDAZ with Frank Comacho at 11am, before that newscast was canceled.

I'm shocked. Recently I looked up Olivia's bio and she's done a lot in Vegas. Good to have her back.

Olivia's last day was on a weekend GEAZ. They had a goodbye video for her.

I was going to post asking the question about GMAZ anchor situation. For the last 3 weeks, Gina Maravilla anchors in addition to doing traffic on Mondays and Tuesdays. Tess Rafols works Wednesdays through Sundays. There are always jokes about Tess first day being Wednesday and she explains it's her Monday.

Funny you should mention that Olivia's last show was GEAZ weekend! 3TV has a tendancy to have departing news people work some odd shifts. For example, Brittney Shipp worked some of April's and Royal's shifts right before she left. Still miss Brittney by the way!

By the way, is Fields Moseley on his way out at 3TV? They hired him as the main evening co-anchor and have now assigned him to the 4pm to 5pm GEAZ. I'm assuming he's gone when his contract is up. If so, it's too bad because I thought Fields was quite good.

I am actually looking forward to Olivia returning. GMAZ has been lacking in the last couple of years. I find myself bored with the show and turning the channel frequently. Now if only they could get Dan Davis to return! They need to get more humor and banter going again....the show is boring and the same thing everyday.

3TV is airing a commercial with the "Good News" that Olivia is coming back on March 23. Didn't say daytime or nighttime.

No worries! You would think that they would have said "GMAZ" in the voiceover as in "Olivia Fierro returns to GMAZ March 23rd", but perhaps that was too long.

I wonder if Olivia will anchor the whole GMAZ like Kaley or will she be more like Tara and do 6am to 10am. Gina could co-anchor from 4:30am to 6am and do double-duty with traffic.

I am not a fan of one of the anchors not staying the entire broadcast. I know Scott has been there for 20+ years but if they don't need him in the 9-10 hour, why need him at all?

Olivia might get it in her contract to do the 6-9 shift, but what does that say for Javier, April and Gina? Sure, they aren't the anchors, but they are there for all 4.5 hours.

I've also noticed that Scott hasn't been in the promos for the next day's show. In other words, it seems that Scott leaves the station after he's done at 9am and is not included in the promo shoots (which probably happen after the show ends at 10am).

While I generally like the same anchors to stay for the entire show, the length (5.5 hours) of the show makes it difficult for 2 anchors to do the entire show without a break. However, I do think that Olivia and Scott should anchor at the same time (even if it's 6am to 10am). Perhaps you have the secondary team anchor earlier (say Javier and Gina from 4:30am to 6am). The traffic and weather people tend to have longer shifts because they are on-air less than the anchors.

Gina Maravilla posted pictures on Facebook and Twitter showing the GMAZ team doing a promo. So it looks like they are staying with 5 (Scott, Olivia, Javier, April and Gina) personalities. I guess they are leaving the 'Yetta' position open for now.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's too bad because they could use an additional anchor to help out during the LONG GMAZ newscast. Perhaps they will cross-utilize personalities from CBS5. For example, Paul Horton and the rest of the CBS5 anchor team would be available after 7am to help out.

I thought Olivia looked right at home on the set this morning. I was surprised to see Jamie Ceretta joining the morning team. I know that Jill Gallus has moved to evenings so maybe they flip flopped?

I agree that Olivia looked right at home. I missed Jamie, though. What was she doing? Reporting or anchoring? Will she still be anchoring at 4pm?

I've noticed that too. Scott doing promos is more the exception rather than the rule. However he was featured for tomorrow's (3/24) GMAZ. While some anchors probably quickly exit the building after their shift is done, I believe Scott actually works on other 3TV projects when the news is over.
