Today (Oct. 26), many stations on the left side of the dial are celebrating the third annual Public Radio Music Day, a day set aside to show appreciation for local public radio stations and their service to listeners and musicians.

The date is made official with bipartisan resolutions in both the House and Senate.

Coordinated by the noncomMUSIC Alliance, this year’s theme is “Discovering the Sound of Local Communities” and spotlights public radio stations producing live local concerts and music discovery events.


“It's Public Radio Music Day and we're celebrating with ‘FUV Live’ highlights on 90.7FM [and] WFUV.org. On air, online, on video, on stage, and on the go, local stations provide a platform for innovative music programming,” Fordham University adult alternative WFUV New York posted on Twitter.

Believe it or not in the Des Moines market, WOI-FM ranks quite well in the 12 plus ratings with its AAA format. That’s something that was unimaginable at one time. It literally beats out a fair handful of commercial stations each month in sheer listerners.
