Only about a dozen affiliates on the Jaguars radio network? Either most stations aren't willing to spend the money on an NFL franchise that hasn't won consistently in recent years, or maybe NFL.com's "Field Pass" package is more popular than first thought. Or maybe Tallahassee is simply too far west for the Jaguars to pursue any stations there. Satellite radio also might be a factor in the limited number of affiliates the Jaguars have picked up for their radio network.

WUTL-FM in Tallahassee had the games in previous years.

The Miami Dolphins are on 1410 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on 1270.

Could it be that most of Florida is still Dolphin Country even after all these years?

Does WFXJ in JAX still air Bucs games?

Obviously having a winning team, and one that wins in the playoffs,
would go a long way to generating enthusiasm for Jaguars beyond
Jacksonville.

Do need to clarify some statements on this thread:

-no radio station is paying a fee to carry the Jaguars

-stations probably getting tickets, etc, to help market the broadcasts,
but most stations probably don't make much revenue on the broadcasts

-WOKV probably generates more measured audience than the rest of the network
combined

FYI - I had some minor involvement in the early days of the broadcast, and diffuculty in securing affiliates was due to Dolphins, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, NASCAR all competing for Sunday radio affiliates

If you can't get the Fins, Bucs, Dirty Birds, or Vroom on a Sunday...why not air the Jaguars? I would air the Jags before the Dirty Birds or Vroom.

Good to see the Jags don't charge for their affiliation. If anyone has an idea of a Tallahassee station sitting on the fence for the Jags....I would more than happy to contact them in support. More football is always good!

During the Jags early years they had a great FM affiliate in Orlando,
But they are not popular in Orlando as on TV Orlando is forced to carry all Jags away games and that has cut several Dolphin games out.
Orlando is still a Dolphin town with a very good Buc following after Tony Dungy took over and made them a respectful team.

96.5 WHTQ I believe: http://whtq.com/

So with WOKV-FM around, I guess "The New 96-9 The Eagle, Jacksonville's Classic Hits Station" is no longer "And your FM home of the Jacksonville Jaguars?"

IIRC, in the early seasons, both 105.5 in St. Augustine Beach and 92.1 in Macclenny carried the games. You'd think whoever owned the Cox stations back then would have objected, since 96.9 more than covers those areas as well. Then again, that was back when 105.5 had some reach left.

The Dolphins once had an FM home in Jacksonville on 106.5, when it was Real Radio. I'm pretty sure it was not renewed for a second season, which by that time the station was Big 106.5. I do remember that during Jags home games, Big 106.5 would go local for the afternoon, and have quarterly game reports from David Lamm. Big 106.5 may have retained Seminoles football, though.

Panama City listing shows "WASG 550" no such station...

WASG 550 and WVTJ 610 are almost always simulcasting. WASG is a daytimer with a much better signal than WVTJ, so I assume that WVTJ will break away from preaching to carry night games and WASG will carry day games.

WASG has a very strong signal (compared to other area stations) and seek will stop on it 50 miles away in Crestview. I'm not the one to answer this, but I'd be very surprised if 550 had a listenable signal in Panama City... I don't think it even reaches Destin.
Radio-Locator says WASG has 143 watts at night... I've regularly picked them up loud and clear 20 miles from their transmitter at night. I always figured they were cheating.

WOKV allowed stations in McClenny and St. Augustine on the Jaguars
network in the early years because they charged them a rights fee - and neither station generated any ratings to worry about.
