One of my most wanted just bagged!! New Log 9/23/12

Well, it took me over a year to log this thing...but I DID IT!! :)

740-CFZM Toronto, ON; two IDs for "AM740" and song match to "Reminiscing" by the Little River Band. Heard at 2213-2218 PDT. NEW LOG #452, 50kw, 2058 miles! One of my most-wanted AM stations has been bagged!

Also: huge 780 WBBM Chicago with football news over KKOH, CCI to KFMB on 760 most certainly WJR Detroit (relog, 1925 miles); 920 CFRY Portage La Prairie, MB; 1340 KWVR Enterprise, OR 2100 TOH. But still, CFZM is a monster log, tentative nearly a year ago, but now logged!

Congrats on that huge catch, crainbebo!

It's hard to hear CFZM where I am and I'm so much closer.

Good job! Persistence pays off.

They're loud and clear in SW Michigan, and not bad in the northern suburbs of Chicago since WGN turned off their hiss generator.

I suggest sending CFZM a reception report. I think they would be interested and I would not be surprised if they acknowledged it. They are nice people!

Nice work, c'b. At this time, from south FL, CFZM is the only Canadian AM station even remotely possible now to catch---and in the winter, at that!

And here I thought hearing CFZM clearly at night just outside of Des Moines, IA was good. Ever get KDKA 1020/Pittsburgh out there?

No KDKA, but have logged KCKN Roswell, NM, KDYK Union Gap, WA and KWIQ Moses Lake, WA on the frequency.

Buckeyes: Have not picked up a lot of Eastern clears. None E than WJR and CFZM, IIRC.

Steve: This is Ontario #2. The first one was 1/4/12 where I got 900/CHML Hamilton, ON with a full ID and old time radio. That night also bagged my first-time log of WWL.

Nice catch, crainbebo. When you posted in another thread about this, I knew it was only a matter of time. I thought the fact that there are a few other big signals on the channel might be an impediment, but I also knew that CFZM gets out really well. Impressive physical plant in a large, flat, open area about 15 miles west of downtown Toronto.

Do you think you can null KIXI to the point where you can go after CJBC from the same stick? They don't seem to get out quite as well as CFZM, but the French makes them easy to identify through slop.

And the thing is, it's not as though 740 is overwhelmed by strong signals from much closer stations.

Here where I am, WYGM and KTRH dominate the frequency but much of the time the signals are weak and don't interfere with a more distant station getting in.

CFZM is simply hard to get here and that makes hearing it as far as where crainbebo is an awesome catch.

Good job, sir! They take pride in their coverage area (they're like a local to me), you may want to let them know!

Won't be able to ID CJBC, because CBKF-2 Saskatoon is in the way. I logged it once.

Congrats on a monster catch, Crain! I'm with the other people. Try for CJBC on 860 now!

I bagged one of my most wanted stations last week with KNBR barely sniffing into S. Michigan with ESPN Radio and (925) area code mentions.

Sky's the limit, Crain! What are your chances of getting the mighty WBZ out there? They absolutely scream into Michigan at night. Their I-BLOC hash makes KDKA and WHO unlistenable even here.

I picked up WBZ quite well in Seattle, but that was 1963. Now I doubt with KTWO that Crain has a shot at it, but stranger things have happened.
