One of the best Underground Dance Stations In The World Is Now Streaming: Kiss FM Australia

Recently launched to serve the Melbourne area, as well as towns like Wangaratta, Kiss FM plays (in my opinion) some of the best Underground Dance music in the world. Everything from classy French House, to Australia's burgeoning Breakbeat/Electro scene, to Trance shows from Armin Van Buuren and the likes.

I've always been really curious about the dance scene down in OZ. I'll give this a listen soon when I get a chance, but I do have what may be a difficult question to answer - for anyone who's taken a listen and might know, would you say this is a fairly accurate representation of the dance music that's popular down under?

Here's some breif history on these guys. They are not really a new station. These guys were around a few years ago (2001 I believe) on a diff. freq and where attempting to get a full-time community license. It ended up going to someone else. I would know because I supported them! In AU, several stations can apply for a community license per freq. Then each station gets "test" b'casts that last a few weeks to around a month, then it's the next applicants turn and so on. It's all scheduled. Whichever station shows the most potential gets the license. Sure wish we had something like that here in the US!

I had several car stickers, even one on my ride(s) and still have some parapilenia stashed away somewhere! Kiss 90 FM - Melbourne! Nice to see they are back. Thanks for the news CHRles, otherwise these guys were long gone in my book :)

WOW, so this is the old KISS 90,,, I remember this station as well, they used to have a 20k stream, and this was back around 2000, and 2001... Thanks for the info HOSS, and thank you CHRles for the link... I cant beleive this is the continuation of the old KISS 90...(COOL).....

Me too. You'd sure see a lot less of these religious broadcasters with too much extra money gobbling up available space up and down the dial with translators, repeaters and whatnot.
