Online sympathy card in memory of WBNS-TV's Heather Pick

On behalf of General Manager Gary Richards, News Director Michael Alwood and the rest of the WVKO family, our deepest sympathies go to our colleauges at the Dispatch Media Group, including Mix 97.1 and Sports Radio 1460 The Fan, with the passing this morning of WBNS 10TV Morning News Anchor Heather Pick.

I myself am a testicular cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in 2000, and my battle was brief. I was shocked to learned of Heather's death when I got to the studio this afternoon. And I was once again humbled because I knew my experience with the disease paled in comparison to what the vast majority of cancer patients go through.

As with breast cancer, the key to my survival was regular self-examination, early diagnosis and treatment.

Heather fought a brave battle with breast cancer, and one where she didn't hesitate to keep viewers informed of what she was going through.

I woke up to watching Heather and Chuck Strickler over the last six years. Mornings will never be the same.

Your expressions of sympathy I'm sure will be welcome.
 
Heather was amazing on Channel 10 and will be missed. She was on air in fact until almost the end of her journey on this planet. My thoughts and prayers are with Dispatch Group and her family.
 
Heather Pick's passing is indeed a shock, though I was aware that she had a history with cancer. During a previous broadcast life in the Columbus area, I often kept up with the day's events by watching 10TV's morning news with Heather and Chuck. She seems to have a been a real trooper to the end. My condolences to her family, co-workers and all who knew her.
