ONLY 2 WEEKS LEFT: OF 6 NETWORKS, UNIVISION IS THE ONLY UP VS. '09-'10 (18-49)

These numbers are from TV by the Numbers............

(18-49 vs. 2009-2010 season....thru week 33 of 35)
UNIVISION +8.6%
CW -5.2%
FOX -5.3% (Super Bowl this year)
CBS -8.2% (Super Bowl last year)
ABC -8.5%
NBC -14.4%

COMMENT: Could 2020 mark the end of BROADCAST TELEVISION?

NBC has taken the bottom ring which FOX held for much of the year, but FOX came on strong starting in January. Interesting that NBC instead of making a bold schedule move / re-invention in 2011-2012 has chosen to pretty much stay with the same formula and is keeping their finger crossed that the NFL will return.........sounds like a very RISKY Vegas move. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...atings-cbs-second-abc-third-nbc-fourth/92163/

When I first read this, I thought "the viewership is down because most of the shows are a big pile of steaming crap" but then after a few minutes a few other things struck me.

1. The economy is down and people cannot afford cable and I don't care what the networks say millions of Americans cannot pick up networks via rabbit ears and people do not have money for cable.

2. People are becoming sick of reality shows and decided to move on to something else.

3. IPTV and DVRs are not included in these numbers and many people are turning to the internet and dvrs to watch TV because of the ridiculous amount of commercials in each show.

I could be wrong about my extended reasons and shows today could be crap. I have noticed that most shows today cannot hold a candle to some of the shows in the past. Also, most scripts are shallow and are pointless. The shows that have great potential and look really good are not given a chance. There have been many shows in the past that were at rock bottom their first season and then became some of the greatest of all time. "Cheers" to name one example.

Finally, I think many shows today are numbed down and little to no thought is required to watch them and to me that is a serious turn off.

no doubt the network execs will look at this and conclude they should add
Spanish programming to their lineups....
