After several unsuccessful attempts to reach the operator of a pirate radio station broadcasting in Brockton, the federal government is poised to take ownership of the broadcasting equipment pending approval from a federal judge.
The equipment, which includes an antenna, amplifiers and other radio equipment, was seized by law enforcement officials on April 18 when they shut down a pirate radio station broadcasting from 582-584 Crescent St., Brockton.
After repeated unsuccessful attempts to locate the station’s operator and bring them to court, prosecutors for the federal government have filed a motion for default judgment in U.S. District Court asking Judge Mark Wolf to rule in their favor based on the defendant’s failure to appear in court to defend their property.
