Opie Joe named PD of WCYQ and WNOX

SummitMedia LLC today named Opie Joe as the new Program Director for WCYQ and WNOX in Knoxville, Tenn. Opie will lead the imaging, content, promotions, and branding for the two stations, including streams, on-demand content, digital assets, and social med

I wonder if we’ll see him make any changes with WNOX. I would imagine WCYQ is doing well enough to keep the status quo there.

I don't know that local PD has that much say on WNOX. Good for Opie Joe, though, he's been with whatever incarnations of Country in that building (Q93, Q100) for a long time.

Speaking of WCYQ, does anyone know why Summit turned the HD signal off on 100.3 this past month? I was hoping it was just maintenance or something, but it’s been off for over a month now. Ashamed too, because their HD had great sound processing & audio quality. Summit uses HD2 feeds for translators in other markets. Wish they’d do that here.

Aren't the translator availabilities all taken here?

It's happened before in the past where it was off for months at a time. Something may be broken. Seems odd that they would leave the smaller signal HDs on if shutting it down completely was their intention.
