Oprah's Favorite Things on the road to her "best" affiliate

Oprah took her "Favorite Things" show to Macon, GA this year, where Gannett's WMAZ/13 (CBS) is her best performing affiliate (Macon is 80 miles south of Atlanta). Apparently, 45% of all TV's in the Macon/Warner Robbins/Perry DMA (Market #121) are tuned to her show on WMAZ from 4-5PM daily. (In comparison to 15% in Market #8 Atlanta with WSB-TV).

If she had given away cars to everyone in the audience, I wonder if her numbers would be 100% of the Macon DMA afterwords?

Well, let's see, Atlanta's got about a dozen TV stations to Macon's... what, three? Four? That might have something to do with it... That and the fact that WMAZ is the only VHF signal in the area... I know all of this will be moot in fifteen months, but still...

This is proof that most people in the US could give a crap about Oprah.

She's phony; she won't cover anything that will turn off her core viewer base (she can't afford to lose millions covering something that really matters to everyone else).

The sooner Oprah leaves television the better off her lemmings will be.
