OT: Philadelphia Officer Shot, Killed By Bank Robbers

Bringing this on topic, 29 was the first I saw break into programming with Dave Schratwieser reporting from the field; 3 broken in about a half hour later with Chris May in the news center and Chopper 3 providing Live video; 6 ran a crawl, but I didn't see them break in until all three of the above covered the press conference live (Larry Mente anchoring coverage for 3, Rob Jennings for 6, and John Atwater for 29). Channel 10 had no coverage of the press conference and from what I saw didn't even have a single cut-in or crawl. Is snowboarding really more important than the death of a police officer?

10 did have a crawl mentioning info on the shooting but you're right, WCAU didn't air the PC live. That doesn't make any sense to me. I would complain to NBC 10 about this issue because a 60 year old TV station should not do what it did today: http://www.nbc10.com/contactus/index.html 6 did air a special report on the shooting at 3 PM and then came back on for the PC.

What does the "age" of a TV station have to do with this? Absolutely nothing.

Channel 10 made its decision. It wasn't the one I would have made, but there is no need to complain to them about it. The press conference was on other channels. Nobody's going to remember weeks from now who did and didn't interrupt programming about this crime. They'll remember, appropriately, that a police officer was killed in the line of duty and those responsible should pay heavily for their evil.

This story broke in my homeplace just a few blocks from my home and let me say the media sucked at there coverage I went onair with breaking news on Tv nowlive.com via cellphone and then met AnnMarie Green of Cbs3 at the shooting scene of the hero Sgt Steve may God Rest His Soul and my heart goes out to his family.

I'd hope that if this was a weekday instead of the weekend than there would have been better coverage.

A police news conference is planned for approx. 11:30 AM today according to WPVI. Posters, please let us know which philly TV stations aired this live.

Channels 3 and 6 carried the press conference live.

I usually don't watch Philadelphia news but I found channel 29's coverage a bit jarring yesterday. During their report, they had a multiple-cut-edit synched up to someone saying "bang bang bang bang" describing the shooting, like it was a Tarantino movie or something. On top of that, they had two man on the street interviews that said the same thing; the officer's last words were that he loved his wife.

I don't know. Thumbs down for that coverage. It's an officer down, not an action movie.

If you seen Channel 3 tonight at 6pm the Commish Ramsey interview you seen no other then Nowlive.com's Mike Phillips in the interviewing screen live onair covering the Memorial in his hometown Port Richmond . Wait thats me me me.

Are you seriously using this event to hype your 'podcasts?' Shameless doesn't even begin to describe that...though sickening does.
