P-G Article About WKFB In R-I's "Ross On Radio" Oldies Poll

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has written a story about the fact that local oldies station WKFB is in the running for "best oldies/greatest hits station" in R-I's own Sean Ross' "Ross On Radio" online poll:

Ross is even quoted in the article as saying WKFB offers listeners "something different" than the average oldies station. (Okay, to be fair, that was probably a blanket statement about all of the nominees, but still... ::) )
 
It's an honor for 770 KFB (or any station) to be nominated.

I've said many times that if it weren't for Frankie Day, 770 wouldn't be doing what it is now doing -- at
least not for as many hours per week. (Even now, in the dead of winter, with the shortest days of the
year, Frankie is responsible for 40 hours of oldies per week.)

Credit also goes to Caveman Ralph (who was, I believe, the first oldies host on 770), and Suzie Q, both
of whom have Saturday oldies shows.

So, in the words of the old PAMS jingle, 770 KFB ... GO GO!

Was it Caveman Or Big Ray Edwards . I rembemer Big Ray Hosting the Morning show, Signing the station on at 6:45 Am in June
 
The Post-Gazette features Caveman Ralph with his WKFB show in a scenes page in 2004. The paper's Adrian McCoy wrote that Big Ray began his 'KFB show in April 2005. The Caveman, of course, remains part of the Frankie Day stable at 'KFB while Big Ray and Candy & Mike have moved down Route 48 to WEDO-810, where Big Ray is on weekday mornings from 9 or 9:30 until noon, Candy & Mike from 2-4 p.m.
 
A daytimer in suburban Pittsburgh is second only to a 5,000-watt fulltimer heard in midtown Manhattan. Not bad. Not bad at all. And third place goes to CKWW, the oldie sibling of what now is news-talk CKLW-800, but serving Motown among other places. Add the write-ins for Mercyhurst College's WYNE-1530 and you have to feel proud ... Western Pennsylvania Proud, to be sure, but also, as Frankie Day would put it, Oldies Proud.
 
It's interesting that this Internet-based poll got write-ins from WYNE, which streams full-time, but second place finisher (W)KFB doesn't even have a website.

How is Sean hearing the station? Is he hearing Frankie Day's other shows, or Clarke, were you sending him audio from it? ;)
