P.J. O'Rourke, NPR panelist, National Lampoon and Libertarian writer, passes at 74.

I was never really a fan of the guy but I think Brudnoy had a crush on him and had him on WBZ many times. I know he had battled cancer for years and I think he eventually moved to NH. Sorry he wasn't dealt a better hand, rip.

this sucks, he was my favorite writer. I actually have a couple of his books here in my office to read....

His writings involving cars are legendary....

One of my favorite paragraphs was in response to someone asking him which kind of car was best. his response: "Nothing handles better than a rented car. You can go faster, turn corners sharper, and put the transmission into reverse while going forward at a higher rate of speed in a rented car than in any other kind. You can also park without looking, and can use the trunk as an ice chest. Another thing about a rented car is that it's an all-terrain vehicle. Mud, snow, water, woods – you can take a rented car anywhere. True, you can't always get it back – but that's not your problem, is it?"

Brudnoy, being a Libertarian liked O'Rourke because O'Rourke was one too.... and one of the reasons I Identify myself politically as a Libertarian leaning small c conservative ... he had a big influence on me

He was a regular on 'Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!' Peter, Bill and the panelists are mourning him. RIP P.J.

Peter was the only one who did that.
