To: All
George Laurie was a North Jersey radio friend of many years' standing. We were co-workers on many occasions. When he became a co-founder of the New Jersey Radio Museum (NJRM), it came to me as no surprise whatsoever, with his abiding love of radio as well as the history of the region and more particularly, how radio in that particular part of New Jersey not only survived but excelled despite the stiff major-market competition that was always there from countless NYC market radio signals.
George was always the all-important link, the bridge from radio into the Dover Area Historical Society, the venerable organisation that had traced the incredibly varied history of Dover, Morris County and the diverse events going back to Native American days, before any colonists were even on the scene.
It was George who was of great assistance to the New Jersey Radio Museum in creating the linkage between the two organisations, sharing the 501(c)3 designation and space at the historic Condict House in downtown Dover. All of us at NJRM owe an unfathomable depth of gratitude to George, his vision and boundless energy over the years in helping to create and sustain our presence on the internet, as advocates for live and local radio throughout the State of New Jersey as well as assuring that great personalities and events in New Jersey radio history were not forgotten.
Thank you, George; and, to your family, thanks for lending George and his great talents to us at NJRM for a time.
With our deepest, most sincere sympathies,
Rich Phoenix, RMC
NJ Radio Museum President
