I just watched the latest in the PBS series, Pioneers of Television, "Funny Ladies". Again, just excellent tv. I also enjoyed their Johnny Carson episode from last year. How come the only major non-commercial network continues to provide the best programming? Well, I guess I know the answer, but really...

I only caught a snippet and plan to record an overnight replay later this week. I have loved the past episodes.

The narrator sounded like Ryan Seacrest. I don't recall that cloying "radio-guy" voice from past episodes. Ick.

It is Seacrest. Apparently, that "cloying radio guy" from past episodes was Kelsey Grammar. I've only seen one episode of this series, and can't recall, personally.

Short snippet from another website:

"The addition of Seacrest, along with incorporating younger actors such as Tina Fey, and more clips and interviews is an attempt to create a 'faster-paced program' that is 'a little more relevant' and that hopefully appeals to a younger demographic..."

I can't watch. Yet. My TiVo is already yelling at me. I have to sacrifice computer time to watch all the shows before they get deleted. Extending the time on any shows creates the risk I'll lose something.

And while a PBS station does have a DTV signal I can pick up, most of my VHS tapes are nearly full and DTV is risky anyway. I'll take the perfect signal from cable any day.
