Pensacola: "Papa Don" Schroeder's boy Jerry passes at age 40

I may be breaking the rules, but I had to post this. Anyone who has spent time in the Pensacola market surely knows Don and Scott. I never met Jerry, but I feel the loss anyway. Don's been through a lot in recent years, I hope he's strong enough to make it through this.

Schroeder Jr., Gerald Don

JERRY SCHROEDER
APRIL 19, 1968-
JANUARY 28, 2009

Had many a great lunch with Papa Don during my years in Pcola. Great guy. Sincere condolences to the family, and a prayer that their faith will help them through this difficult time.

I overheard some talk about Jerry's passing today including some things I didn't know. Apparently he was involved in an auto accident a while back and has been in pretty bad shape for quite a while. He evidently died of "blood poisoning," but I don't see how that could be related to a past auto accident, and I don't know how broad the definition of "blood poisoning" is or how he could have contracted whatever put him down.
Also, I understand he was recently engaged... making the story just that much sadder.

"Papa" Don just put his house up for sale and Scott has his up for sale too. I don't how much other family they have in the area, so I'm not sure if this is a sign that they may have decided to move away. Has anyone seen 790 listed for sale in the insider trade rags?

Would you believe that one of my nicknames around the shop is "the Grim Reaper?"
