Per Your Requests - A List of Recommend Radio-Friendly Dance Titles

Admittedly there's quite a few Pop songs right now, as you'vev mentioned, that have a good amount of Dance appeal. "Disturbia" by Rhianna, Ne Yo's "Closer" and "Miss Independent", Katy Perry's "Hot & Cold", Britney's "Womanizer", and Christina Aguilera's latest (which is growing on me quite a lot).

Suggestions for Dance titles that might work:

Martin Solveig "I Want You". Consistently rated as one of the best producers and DJs from France.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOWP0Q4NLzg

Fragma “Memory”. Finally, a great new effort, and a follow up to the massive remixes to the classic “Toca’s Miracle”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDcTEm3U2Ro

Darin Feat. Kat Deluna "Breathing Your Love". Big in Sweden, and is a bit reminiscent lyrically and stylistically of old Freestyle records.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytQH8w90fG4

Guru Josh Project "Infinity 2008". Number one in Holland and 3 in the UK, 5 in Germany. The biggest anthem in Ibiza this summer. Very strong radio support from CHR radio all over the European continent. Expect this one to eventually try to cross over to B-96 Chicago, Poweer 96 Miami, and Wired 96.5 in Philly. SMASH!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9KnuJZkBjg&feature=related

Armin Van Buuren Feat. Sharon Den Adel "In And Out Of Love". Armin's just been voted number one on DJ Mag's annual Top 100 DJ list. The song already went top 10 in Holland, currently Top 10 in Belgium.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87XesTKy0ro

Christian Falk Feat. Robyn “Dream On”. As brilliant as some of Robyn’s past releases. The music arrangement and lyrics are definitely a cut above the rest. Very highly recommended!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypQtJ8z6q5o

Craig David "Insomnia". VERY HOT! European radio is already starting to jump on this one. Very Ne-Yo sounding.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjGrOG5EbeI

John Legend Feat. Andre 3000 "Green Light". Playing on some R&B, Adult Urban, Hip Hop, Rhythmic, CHR, and even Hot AC stations. Its got some cool Breaks/Drum N Bass arrangement, the Rap portion is fun yet sophisticated, and John Legend is a true singer (no vocoder effects used).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hd-uklv-5g

Lange "Out of The Sky". Pretty much my favorite Dance record of the past month.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNCSykWD0RI

Scooter vs. Status Quo "Jump That Rock". Very cool mash-up of late 70s/early 80s Rock with typical Scooter fun. Originally it was a couple of Hard Dance acts that made a bootleg using the Status Quo record, and it did really well on the Hard Dance scene. Then Scooter came along and got the band involved in the project. Top 20 in Austria.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2R-80-7s_I

Nadia Ali "Crash & Burn". One of my favorite tracks of the year. Former Iio singer with a Fleetwood Nac inspired record. Did well in the American club charts, and currently Top 5 at Wilmington’s Super 91.7
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jesqlplh5fE

Jes “Imagination” (Kaskade Remix)”. There’s something about her voice. Besides, if you’re looking for the Kaskade or Deadmau5 touch, you’ll prolly have an easy time wit this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQK1FPgcLh8

Robin S. "Show Me Love 2008". You know this one pretty well I'm sure. The 2008 remix is a big hit in Holland.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHjok-GHSyM

John Ocallaghan Feat. Audrey "Big Sky". Huge Trance anthem in 08, and currently Top 10 at Mexico City's Top 40 station, Alfa 91.3 (the station finally has a 128 K stream).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4fA-8vINiM

Giuseppe Ottaviani Feat. Stephen Pickup "No More Alone". One of Italy's biggest Trance producers with a fantastic vocal effort from Stephen Pickup.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqCU-3M_VcE

Verona “Stay With Me”. Slovakia is starting to flex its Dance muscle with this simple and catchy Euro number.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdaBPREoVxo

Ian Carey “Red Light”. The follow up to “Keep On Rising”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81vz5F5vGAA

Older tracks:
Velvet "Fix Me".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_JhWA_KQvM

Sash Ft Stunt "Raindrops (Encore Une Fois)". Currently Top 10 in the UK. Real big in the Midlands and Liverpool area with the same crowd that took Cascada and Basshunter high atop the UK charts.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6woSGy3NAc

As for some cool Modern Rock/Pop, there’s a lot of New Wave-ish material coming out largely from Australia and the UK though definitely not limited to those countries.
Chairlift “Bruises”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLG9DheSh-c

The Killers "Human"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zg0wH2RWdo&feature=related

Rasmus "Living In A World Without You"

"The Longest Road" is among my favorite records of the year :) Been raving about it for months on end, and I'm sure I've mentioned it in a few past posts of mine.

Now for the Kim Sozzi record, I'm highly disappointed. I dont foresee any CHR/Pop or Rhythm station adding this one here, and I doubt it'll get much airplay in Europe outside of a couple of stations in Poland. Her accent is too thick here, the words are lost in translation, the record sounds out of tune at times, and even the musical arrangement is far from perfect. Aside from a few loyal Dance stations domestically, I don't see this record going anywhere.

Wow. This is a great list.

Thanks for the great info, I really appreciate it.

CHRles.....this is going to be one of those rare moments that I will have to mostly disagree with you. And it IS rare being that we've been on these boards all these years! :)

Maybe this is me living in the same region as Kim (she, Long Island, me, DA BRONX), but.....what accent? I went through hearing this record about 100 times trying to figure out an accent in there....desperately looking for that "Lon Guylanda" accent (Jimi help me here!) I couldn't find it. There may be times where on the higher octave vocals one could LOSE a word....but at best, one word, not a line of a lyric. Nevertheless, having said all of this, "Feel Your Love" has to be her best work EVER! Better than "How Did You Know" and "Like A Star". It still showcases her "girl next door" voice but also adds a maturity in there as well.

I'm sure in time Z-100 will add this track on rotation as well as other CHR outlets in due time. I don't think with this song it's a case of an "if" but a "when!" :)

Kim's track is starting to get a good reaction. Another record thats coming in Lady Gaga's Poker Face. We were early on Just Dance its starting to take off. I think Poker Face is going to do well. Video is up on our site. www.z889.org

Hopefully either Craig David or T2 crosses over to the U.S at some point. It's about time that bassline crosses over to the U.S. and doesn't remain just a UK thing. I noticed that Garage and 2 Step never really crossed over too much, but now with the evolution of uk garage into bassline, something COULD happen and change the sound of music in the US as well.

BBC 1xtra in London, which is like the radio version of BET and uses the slogan "love black music", ALSO includes a lot of house, electro house, bassline and garage in their playlisty and mixshows. Just imagine if things were the same in the US!!

There are so many rhythmic / top 40 & dance radio friendly dance hits, especially in the breakbeat and new school freestyle sound out there that could easily become something big and possibly start a new trend if only it were given a chance here in the US.
We are going in that direction anyway, so why not open the doors to it?

Craig David - where's the love
Sunship - Love is on the rocks (2-step mix)
T2 ft. Jodie Aysha - heartbroken
Control-S - never leave me alone
Snoop Dogg - sensual seduction (Wideboys bassline mix)
Asia Cruise - Selfish (Danny Dubbz mix)
John Legend - save room (dragons mix)
Judy Torres - Hell no
Gabriel Antonio ft. Stevie B - I wanna be the one 2009
Mari P - Search within

I can only answer this based on the perception that New York radio has given off regarding freestyle ('KTU and yep, I'll go there, Pulse 87). To that, I think that radio believes that people WANT to hear the old stuff.

This has been something I've really been cringing about all these years. When Hot 103/97 came out with the freestyle sound back in the mid 80's, it was new, it was happening...it certainly grabbed the 20 somethings (myself included) and for the time it came out, it was good. The demand was there and the record companies producing it just kept cranking out material to the point that the quality of the sound became crap and the sound was oversaturated.....which helped kill dance music off Hot 97 in 1992 (there WERE other factors as well such as Emmis' finances, but musically that helped the demise).

When the 'KTU calls came back in 1996 on 103.5, one would have thought perhaps new freestyle could appear. Instead, it was the same stuff from the 80's being played on rotation AS IF IT WAS THE 80's! Very little room for new dance material. It would be your disco, classic freestyle and if lucky...one thing new per hour.

There has ALWAYS been an outcry regarding freestyle in New York City. I did say something once regarding classic freestyle on Pulse 87 in here and on a freestyle board which led people to believe that I didn't want to hear that sound and that I hated freestyle. That is NOT the case. I would WANT for new freestyle to appear along with a new generation intertwined with the "old skool". But it can NEVER happen if the same classic freestyle from 1988 was being spun on rotation with the same vigor today as it was back then! Pulse 87 is not as bad with that as 'KTU but it's still there. I do believe that there are men and women from that Hot 103/97 generation (we're all in our late 30's to mid 40's) that WANT something new with freestyle today. If Judy Torres and others can create the new sounds.....fantastic! New blood? Welcome! :)

Something has to give somewhere because yes, KDM, we are going in the direction of dance radio friendly dance hits!

Actually, now that you mention it, I'd like to hear some drum and bass happen somewhere. It had it's moment when it was "jungle" back in the late 90's in Toronto but never really took off here.

Craig David just never seems to do good in the states.. Maybe it's the fact he favors 2-step beats or what, but I have really been surprised in the past his records have not done better on US radio.

Just to clarify something, Craig David did have a couple of big hits in the US. "Fill Me In" peaked at number 15 on the Hot 100, and the balled "Seven Days" actually made the Top 10.
In general, 2 Step/Garage was mainly a London/southern England phenomenon. Good stuff nontheless and I'm glad there are other people on this board who are taking an interest/noticing whats brewing overseas.

I always thought Mika could've broke into the US with "Grace Kelly" and I've never understood why The Scissor Sisters don't appeal in the US, especially being an American band.  BOth are huge and get airplay all over the UK, and both had a few big hits on CHR radio in Wisconsin (WIXX and WIFC)...other than that they hardly get airplay in the US according to Mediabase.

Mark Medlock "Summer Love" did well at my station (mainstream CHR), but it died off when the leaves started to fall.

I think Mika Lolipop, and Relax, take it easy could have been CHR hits, the Lolipop would have probably got an initial bad reacation, but eventually could have stuck and become a guilty pleasure, I think the reason Scisor Sisters dont do well on CHR here, is cause they usually have either a AAA or Dance sound to them, and plus, if im not mistaken they may or may not be a gay band, and the U.S is too conservative with the young end for that. Also, they sound like the Bee Gees, and although they are from America, for some reason they have a more UK or Australian sound to them, he even sounds like he has a british Accent...... Going back to Mika,, I think Loli pop would have done very well on radio disney and would probably appeal more to the 12 to 18 crowd, than the 18-34 crowd,, same reason why Chetah Girls dont get played on Mainstream CHR,, which if you have heard the Chetah Girls new song if your ever forced to listen to Radio Disney, its a straight up 4x4 Dance Record, but because of their association with Disney probably wont see the light of day on CHR or Dance stations,, althought Miley Cirus did, so their may be some hope.

Anyway, Jay Micheals at Kiss 108 and BLI hit me up on the Craig David Insomnia track and said I should add it,, and he knows his sh.t, so it may be the next Rhythmic dance crossover, you never know.

I'm with Clubber on this one. I was hesitant about typing something similar as I didnt want to offend some of the regulars on this board, who happen to be gay.

Well, My brother is openly Gay and I happen to have no prob with any gay peeps,,, and they do help the scene alot.. Being against Gays in the year 2008 is in itself GAY.... When I use the term gay, Im using it in reference to Lame,, and I probably shouldnt even do that.

Faded Cascada....How about going out of the box with Stefanie You Never Said You Loved Me?

How about Kid Cudi- Day N Night? It's now #2 at WPOW/Miami! It's also receiving spillover airplay on Y100/Miami... also, WHTZ and get this- WQHT are on it!

Well, I finally re-discovered this portion of this message board again! How did I forget there were other sections?? Anyway, more new hits to list:

Category: RHYTHMIC R&B / FREESTYLE

sweet nothings - Sharyn Maceren
When I hear music - Melissa Lujan
when I want you back - Joe Zangie ft/ Wendy
You're all I need - Eva
beautiful - Akon
radio - Beyonce
do you want it right now - Joei mae
infamous lover - Mari P
return to love - Jennifer Glass
fantasy - Jonelle
diary - Manny
let it go - Miles Petty

I miss you - Inoj
Low (Edmynd's K5 Passion Mix) - Flo Rida
L.O.V.E. - Rockell
playin my love - Rockell

And possibly the songs from the new upcoming Angelina, Stevie B, and Ciara albums.
As far as Collage, I don't know if "higher" from his 2007 album is radio friendly, but it sounded good to me. I judge all songs based heavily on good vocal quality and production.

the new Akon, Stevie B, Inoj, Manny Stylez, and Beyonce tracks can be found on my new school rhythm r&b/dance-freestyle new music sampler on Stevie B's page www.myspace.com/steviebmuic - look for the music player under my name and find the f.f. future flavaz track.
