Pete Sheppard QUITS on the air - says he is fed up with WEEI

Wow.
Didn't hear it and I was listening too, just before getting something to eat. They were talking (5.30) some RS postgame but mostly about the Tiger Woods ruling.
Pete sounded upbeat and it didn't appear like anything was wrong or about to happen.

Was he promised something that wasn't delivered or told he was going to be laid off? Something more specific than just 'fed up?'

He said he could not stand workinrg there anymore

He just tweeted

My dear friends, thanks so much for all the kind words and support, you will hear me again shortly..More to come..Stay tuned!!#outwiththeMRS

I saw his "stay tuned at 6:15" tweet...at 6:30 and wasn't able to tune in. Hopefully someone has the audio, would love to hear it.

Best of luck Sheppard, I've always been a fan.

he said something special was coming at 615p i guess that was it.

Good for you, Meat.

It's amazing, as a Boston outsider, to watch this titanic collapse of what was once THE sports station in the entire country not that long ago, for a very long time. I feel bad for Holley and Minihane. The only two guys there with a shred of talent (although I like Merloni as well). Minihane can't get respect there and Holley gets fvcked six ways from Sunday every couple of months it seems.

Cool, can't wait to hear The Big O and Pete Show that should be coming soon to The Sports Hub <fingers crossed>

Is there a 98.5 per cent chance of that happening? I heard about this just after 7pm; phone call
from WMWM's Doug Mascott who heard it (by then EEI had gone to C's; no chance to record) and I saw Kev's link to BSMW via facebook.

Does this pave the way for the "Sauce Man"? The way it's been going, I wouldn't be surprised. I wish I had heard this. Did he go "Jimmy Meyers" on them or was he nice?

I know they wouldn't have considered it a couple years back, but wouldn't the Big O and Pete" mid-day show on 98.5 really be rubbing 'EEI's nose in in it?

I remember last week, Pete made a comment to a caller about not knowing what's going to happen next week(this week) and I wondered if I had missed something. Ordway was axed over a month ago. I don't think this was a knee-jerk reaction to that. Something tells me that Pete had a plan and something happened to kibosh it.

The Titanic is a good comparison. What's even more telling are the moves by Rish and Ciaccio. They know the ship is sinking.

Is there a chance Entercom blows the whole thing up and turns on the "Mike" computer in the closet, going with jockless music interrupted only for ads and sports play-by-play? Or put the ESPN birdfeed on FM and flip the AM to religion, Spanish or dollar-a-holler?

No way. WEEI's billing seems healthy. A very expensive Sox contract and corporate greed are 2 big reasons for all the cutbacks.

Without the Sox, I'm not sure that WEEI's billing would be that healthy. Oftentimes, the whole is indeed greater than the sum of the parts.

TSB

This morning WEEI had one of those sponsor promos saying how helpful advertising on the station is ... featuring Dennis Drinkwater. Would they really do that if he'd pulled the ads?

I guess this is a further setback to ever hearing the Sawx in stereo on the radio since re-tooling the setup and broadcasting the signal in stereo would take some bucks. It's kind of neat hearing Patriot broadcasts on the radio in stereo.
