Philadelphia radio and television personalities appear in the premere of the Philadelphia music scene documentary at the Wildwood-by-the-Sea Film Festival Saturday night September 29, 2007 7pm at the Frank Theatre in Rio Grande, N.J.

They include Ed Hurst, Sally Starr, Bill Weber, John Carlton, (RJ) Ron Joseph, and Jerry Blavat. The documentary also features interviews with Chubby Checker, Connie Francis, Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Charlie Gracie, Andy Williams, Len Barry, Mike Love and Bruce Johnson of the Beach Boys, The Dovells, and Danny and the Juniors, and Bob Marcucci. Plus many more. The documentary traces the Philadelphia music scene circa 1952 to 1963.

(RJ) Ron Joseph plays a key factor in this full length movie documentary that will be seen on cable pay perview next season. A premere party will follow the screening at 9pm at the Bolero Resort in Wildwood, N.J.

I just saw a show on the Sundance Channel, it was the life of the late Joe Strummer, formerly of the Clash, in one segment, he was appearing in Atlantic City with his new group at the time, this was 2003 if I recall. His manager told him to try and get some air time at a local station before the show that evening, you see him at the WAYV/WZXL studios trying to get in, it was early Saturday morning. No one would let him in until some baldheaded jock from WZXL finally opened the door and they did an on air interview, it was pretty neat, anyone know who the jock was.

Actually, it's Bruce Johnston, with a "t." He wrote I Write the Songs, which was originally recorded by the Captain and Tennille, but didn't make any real money until Barry Manilow recorded it.

I have been invited to the premiere (not premere as written in the original post). If I can fly in for it, I'll write about it here. Can't wait to see everyone again, especially RJ, who, I am sure has a huge role in the film since he was the one who invented the Philly Sound, right after he invented the field effect transistor, thus paving the way for brokered FM radio.

...and non-sponsored brokered radio at that. Ok? Ok!
