Atlantic City/Cape May Planet 106.3 Switches to New Country in South Jersey

The revolving door of formats on 106.3 continues as Alternative WJSE (Planet 106.3) has been dropped for New Country WKOE (Coast Country). As far as I can remember, this station has volleyed between Alternative, Classic Hits & New Country for the better part of two decades now. Whether the new format will succeed is anybody's guess, but I will say that Planet 106.3 was sounding really good with a nice broad playlist and I'm sorry to see it go.

It's probably not the worst idea. Country seems to be hot right now. Rock...not so much. Plus, it probably better compliments the other station they own from a sales perspective.

I liked Planet 106.3 (and LOVE their sister station Planet 93.9 in the Quad Cities) for the broad playlist, but even I know that's a tough sell to advertisers.

Is REgional media leasing 106.3 from Coastal?

I didnt think Coastal and Regional, based in IL were related.

WHy oh why did Regional operate a station in NJ anyways?

I believe it was more of a corporate friends kind of thing? The owners were friends and worked together between their groups.

But if you look at Regional Media's website, they don't list South Jersey as a market anymore. Radio

Oddly enough we have 3 stations in NJ broadcasting country yet call themselves something different.
One country station and two pop stations that play country crossovers (i.e., a CHR that plays Morgan Wallen's hip-hop-flavored singles or an AC that plays Luke Combs' "Fast Car")?

My mistake. I meant to say 3 stations on 106.3 FM in NJ that play country.

The owners of both companies were partners in RadioWorkflow. They put all their stations on one platform and shared resources, but now seem to be breaking them apart. Been trying to find out more...
