Playoffs and World Series on Boston radio...where?

Has anyone had any luck finding Game 1 of the World Series on Boston radio? I haven't been able to find it.

How pathetic! A lot of people who lack roots in Boston still live here, and we'd actually like to hear something not involving one of the home teams.

UPDATE: Just found it on 850. Funny, they weren't running it earlier ... maybe they cut into the action because it's a close game ...

I may have mentioned this in the "game 6 and 7 of ALCS" thread:

Game 1 orig. wasn't listed on either WEEI or WRKO's site. Yesterday during a sports flash in
the afternoon, they mentioned the game would be joined in progress _after the Celtics game_.
Which it was, about 10:30, 10:45, or something.

They were just about to start the 8th inning! I was working and was able to hear bits of it
via WCBS 880, WHAM 1180, and Phillies flagship WPHT 1210--with Rumba 1200 cutting in and out.

Game 2 and game 3 should both be on WEEI.
Game 4 will be joined in progress after a Celtics game, again on WEEI.
Games 5,6, and 7 should be Mon, Wed, and Thu of next week if necessary (WEEI). Maybe
WEEI will bump Mon night football to WRKO. As for a Game 6 on Wed. Nov 4, there's a Celtics game
that night too, at 8 pm. Maybe another "joined in progress"

WCAU, or whatever it is these days, was bombing-in well last night in the car, since I forgot to take my XM with me. Makes me nostalgic for dialing around for baseball on the 50-clears.

I get a lot of spatter from WKOX on 1210, but if WPHT was coming in really well as you say, I should have been able to pick it up. Shame on me for not trying hard enough! I tried 1510 (carrying what sounded like SNR), 850 (Celts), and 680 (Savage). I guess I was too early for 850. Then to FM 98.5 (probably local sports talk) and 104.9 (good-time favorites). Then back to AM. Found the game on WTIC 1080 but it quickly became completely unintelligible thanks to phasing between skywave and groundwave.

I don't think Entercom has any excuse for this fiasco. Why couldn't they have pre-empted or delayed Savage and then switched 680 back to him when 850 became available? Seems to me that's what a responsible broadcaster would have done, but maybe putting Entercom and responsible in the same sentence would be an oxymoron.

I had a $20 mini-boombox with cassette set up at a spot at work where I could get reception of distant stations (esp. without interference), and I listened back later to what I'd recorded. WCBS came in well. As for WPHT
it usually was OK (I had set it up next to a huge metal beam, near edge of my postal facility) but Rumba
kept coming in and out. I'm in N. Reading and they're in Newton.

Last year my work location was in a different part of the building but I still needed the mini FM transmitter
(right now, I can use the mini FM transmitter to relay WRKO or WEEI but it's tough getting anything else...
and if I set up the radio/transmitter in the part of the building where a WPHT would come in, it's too far
away for me to hear on my Walkman). But last year I found that WPHT was strong enough where I _was_
that I could hear the World Series clearly. It was the swan song for Harry Kalas who died earlier this
year (hence the "HK" patches the Phillies had on their uniforms)

WTIC had it? They may have had U-Conn basketball before you tuned in, though

Agreed about what Entercom should have done. The folks whose Sacramento station is currently in
court I believe for the "hold your water for a Wii" contest

One night during the NLCS, or was it the ALCS, they did bump the game to WRKO. Should have done this.
Or even: Run it on WRKO, then when the Celtics game is winding down have a taped announcement
saying "Tune to WEEI 850 to hear the rest of this game", carry another half inning or so, and then go to
Savage or Doyle (something similar to what happened when there was a conflict between games and
one was to begin on TBS; TBS would tell viewers to go to TNT to catch the beginning of the later game,
and once the first game ended, TBS would pick up that later game...

Tomorrows WS game 6 will be joined in prog by WEEI after Celtics. Can't they bump Celts to RKO? I'm working and won't be able to pick up distant stations, at least not in my reg. work area ( can get WCBS or WPHT in other areas)
