Politalk burnout-What are you listening to now?

After the last election I went to MadDog until the "Big Game". Sick of the politalk. Used to be FoxTalk, Savage, Levin, Kudlow,Doyle,Medved,Hewitt,Bennett,Batchelor. Not on a bet, right now.
Have been enjoying Alex Jones (I know..) Ground zero with Clyde Lewis, A little Peter Schiff, On Point, I am just all over the place. I have redone all my fav's on the tuneIn app, and not even using Sirius anymore.
So, What are you listening to now?

NPR, BBC, CBC, Nicole Sandler's "Radio or Not" podcast.

Leo Laporte and TWIT TV. I think he's one of the brightest broadcasters on the air today. He also has a staff of interesting professionals that talk about all things tech. The raw feed heard at TWIT TV also features Leo's side comments that are always amusing. Listen and enjoy.

Most days I tune it to Alex Jones, and Free Talk Live, but then I usually just get Pissed Off about our Government and the Bullsh*t that they are up to.

So... How many YEARS do you have to listen to the Joneser before you determine that 90% of his drivel is exageration or just lies? Or to put it this way... Has the sky fallen where you are? Just sayin'

I thought this topic was about POLITICAL BURNOUT.

Sports Talk. And off-the-wall local college radio stations.

Well it was also "What are you listening to now?" And I've been listening off and on for a couple years now, but more recently it has been more often. And I won't argue with you in the fact he does sensationalize everything pretty good, but I wouldn't come right out and say that he lies about everything either. Generally when I hear this from my friends, or that he is a Conspiracy Theorist, I realize that my friends either have their heads stuck in the sand, or they have their blinders on so tight that they believe everything that our Government tells us to be true. I for one know better and have come to the conclusion if Obama's lips are moving... He's Probably Lying.

I find it interesting that half the answers to the question as political talk shows.

I stopped listening to political talk when I started working in radio. It does nothing for me anymore.

I listen to Opie and Anthony, Ron and Fez, the NFL Network, and occasionally the trucking channel on Sirius. At least until I hear something worse than I could do myself, then I just plug in my iPod and listen to music.

All I have to add to this discussion, which by the way is about POLITALK BURNOUT, if the Joneser can afford to BUY Shortwave radio time for many many years, SOMEONE or SOMETHING must be funding his ACT. Or maybe he has a lot of bucks to throw away. Do the research yourself and you will find out he is just another bloviating idiot that is taking you for a ride.

I don't know that I would even call it "burnout". The way I see things:

- I agree with the current administration on virtually NOTHING about the manner in which
they are governing the country.

AND

- My thoughts and feelings are irrelevant, since I was outvoted, and clearly this
is the way things are going to be for the foreseeable future.

Hence burning up a lot of daily energy fussing and fretting about it just
makes absolutely no sense. Why beat yourself up with Monday Morning Quarterbacking
and daily criticism of Obama when it's not going to change anything, anytime soon?

...as was Chuck Harder before Jones (who also bought tons of airtime on at least three or four shortwave stations), and, in fact, as was Limbaugh (who's self-proclaimed 666th "affiliate" was WRNO's shortwave station out of New Orleans, which he bought his way onto in the early '90s). Much of the slack in ad purchases since Limbaugh's huge sponsorship drop in the last year has been picked up by Dick Armey's super-pac crowd...

May I offer to you, an alternate view of how our effort at self-government works... or needs to work.

The people most likely to be suffering from political burnout today are people who do not include compromise in their vocabulary of acceptable words.

You seem to be expecting a win to mean "you get EVERYTHING your way." If the Presidential election had gone the other way, maybe not in this forum, but somewhere I would be seeing a liberal/progressive counter part telling us his/her "thoughts and feelings are irrelevant, since I was outvoted." That would be a liberal who sees a win to mean "you get EVERYTHING your way."

I have news for you, and news for my liberal friends: A "win" is a system that still works. A "win" involves compromise... a word that is not used in polite company in Washington and state capitols these days.

I like Laport's show but he sounds like he smokes three packs a day! Maybe he doesn't but he sounds that way.

As most of my radio listening is night time dial spinning / DXing, I've found myself listening to Sports talk radio a lot more.
