POLL: Who's The Biggest Dunce(s) In New York Radio?

D

Guest
We're not even at the halfway point of 2005, and there's already been several sensational stories in New York City radio of dramatic proportions, which in turn has attracted negative feedback from local listeners.

Today, I present a little gallop poll: Give us who you think is/are the biggest dunces (with all due respect, I should add) in New York radio to date. Of the choices below, I probably have a good feeling who might be the runaway winner at this point, so please choose any three from the list below. You can write-in your choice for the poll, as long as you provide a valid reason for your vote, but you should choose at least one from the five choices below to case your vote.

And the nominees are:

Chad Brown and others at Infinity - For changing CBS-FM to Jack-FM
Sid Rosenberg - For his ill-hearted comments on "Imus in the Morning"
Miss Jones and others at Hot 97 - For the despicable "Tsunami Song"
Frankie Blue - For sealing his own fate at Mix 102.7 FM
Opie & Anthony (late of WNEW but broadcast from NYC) - For encouraging their "Assault on the Media" live shots

This poll will run till... whenever, I guess...

I would actually nominate and vote for Chad Brown's corporate boss, as Brown is probably just the fall guy. On the other hand, if he did have a hand in the format flip and WCBS-FM tanks, as many of us predict it will, our motto should be, "If it's Brown, flush it!" As I wrote in an earlier post, the decision to blow up WCBS-FM and convert it to the "Jack" format apparently came from the corporate higher-ups at Infinity. Note the pattern in Infinity's blowing up of oldies stations in many of its major and medium markets, followed by the cookie-cutter "Jack" approach. According to one industry newsletter, Infinity has even appointed a corporate vice president over the "Jack"-formatted stations!

With their history of tanking once-successful FM stations, especially in New York, Infinity should change its name to the Massengill Broadcasting Company. For they have more than their share of d-----bags in management!

Yes I was about to point out that no PD would be capable of making a decision like that on his or her own, that came from the top.

AS far as dunces go I think Honorable mention must go to Frankie Blue for his recent on air performance and subsequent firing. Also how far back are we going/ The blink crew must get honorable mention too, if abortion had a sound it would have sounded like Blink.

This poll only reflects the first six months of 2005 (as I mentioned at the top of the thread, it's been a busy time and we're not at the halfway point of the year yet.)

Also, I shall add to the Chad Brown choice option.

My choices of the biggest dunce goes to Chad Brown, of course because of the WCBS FM flip. My other choice is Miss Jones and the folks at Hot 97 who made the "Tsunami Song" which was very low, arrogant, and jerky.<P ID="signature">______________

I know everyone is upset about the CBS flip so I am going to go with something else...

SID ROSENBERG

The comments he made about Kylie Minogue, upon learning she has cancer, were insensitive and idiotic.

I missed it what did he say?. Why would Rosenberg even be referencing Kylie? she doesnt seem to be someone that his listeners would know or be even aware of.

Chad Brown not the guy to blame. To paraphrase Bobcat Goldthwait Blaming Chad Brown for CBS fm going Jack is like blaming Ronald Mcdonald if you go to the golden arches and get a bad burger.
