power 95.3 is giving 102 jamz a run for its money being number 2 in ratings and 102 jamz number 12. steve harvey is not helping 102 jamz at all, and the PD micheal saunders needs to be fired he dont know how to select music for the orlando market he feels play more R&B wil due the trick like he use to do at power 105 in nyc before he got fired for payola

yea weeknight 10pm-2am and the have mixshows, and power 95.3 have not slow jamz, and only one mixshow on sundays

So what's the catch? With no mixshows, hip hop radio can sound dull.

orlando have a huge latino community, and power 95.3 cater to them. 102 jamz mostly target the african american demo which is less hen the latino demo in orlando. power 95.3 sound likt a hitz & hip hop station like they play lady gaga, and 102 jamz sound more urban but with a lot of r&b records on their playlist. steve harvey is on 102 jamz, and he is getting beat by power 95.2 local morning show. !02 jamz have mixshows , and they are alright but you could tell their playing from a playlist the PD put down. Power 95.3 only have one mixshow sunday night 8pm-12 midnight by DJ prostyle from 106 & park.

The demographics is the problem and honestly 102 JAMZ maybe down for a while. Steve Harvey was put on 102 JAMZ to compete with Tom Joyner on STAR 94 (nationwide battle). 102 JAMZ was always in the tops along with STAR 94 for a long time. Cox researched the market and it paid off. They filled a void flipping from Pop/Dance to Rhythmic and the whole time CBS thought they were safe. lets not forget CBS is billing 102 JAMZ as a "Rhythmic" staion. What do yall think should happen? Play more Hip-Hop? More Mixshows? Rickey Smiley Morning Show? Take notes from sister station, V-103 Atlanta?

i think 102 jamz should play more hip-hop but as long the PD mike saunders is there i dont see that happening. i would keep the mixshows cause their not bad but they should let the dj's have a lil freedom , and try to play new records or whatever thats hot in the club. i think steve harvey show belong on an urban AC station. 102 jamz could go for rick smiley becuase i heard his show is funny or get a local morning show like there rivals across town. as for the evening slow jamz they might have to cut that off on weekdays, and maybe should but an uptempo r&b show on sunday's at 10pm or midnight.

Im not buying that Steve Harvey is why there struggling. WBLX up here in Mobile has him in the morning and they are the market leader. Florida is a very rhythmic state every where i go they like there hip-hop and booty music. Especially where 102 jamz is at. They would be wise to up the tempo a bit.

will am not blaiming it on stever harvey. the thing which is touch on is that 102 jamz is not uptempo at all sound like a all r&b station i listen to the station for 30 mins n heard 4 stright r&b songs back to back to back to back. The PD at 102 jamz use to be the PD for power 105.1 in new york, and that station targeting young women 18-35 demo. i even heard when he was in nyc he told his mixshow dj's play less hip-hop more r&b, and i think he doing the samething with his mixshow dj's in orlando

Yall have to remember....Star 94.5 is winning with Tom Joyner's Urban AC format morning show. Steve Harvey is also an Urban AC morning show that is on an Urban staition, 102 JAMZ. There you have it.....2 Urban AC morning shows in Orlando and 1 Hip-Hop leaning morning show(POWER 95.3) not to mention LOCAL! Sure Steve Harvey is winning in cities where they throw him on an Urban station where there is NO direct Urban or Rhythmic competition (Mobile, Tallahassee, Jacksonville). Morning shows play a big part on the rest of the dayparts on any station. 102 JAMZ sounds as if they are trying to battle STAR 94.5 by playing continous R&B, but then again POWER 95.3 is dominating the Rhythmic Hip-Hop.

Shawtyblack you are very right and the thing that is sad 102 jamz are getting smack by both stations at the same time they have to stop tryin to go after start its not working at all. they should go after power 95.3 audience to take back the city as number 1
