Power 96.1 - Atlanta's New Hit Music Station

WILD is now promoting itself as "Hits and Hip Hop". I think this is to try and throw off some rumors of a change. (Radio stations sometimes shift to a slightly different format for a few days, then suddenly axe the format.)

Oh, and during commercials, the stream is messed up, running local commercials and stream commercials (w/iHeart "New Music").

If you look in the comments it says on Monday it was screwing up and that was before Power launched. But you are right it does seem like they are hinting. I mean how do you compete with your sister station that is playing pretty much the same music as you? Although, in Raleigh Kiss and G105 are similar and they are both owned by Clear Channel.

I would put Bull if it has to stay, on 105.3 0r .7. Put Peach back where it belongs.................

Clear Channel has made some... weird desicions in the past. But I doubt they are stupid enough to move what I believe is their highest billing stations to a weak frequency. The revenue and ratings would drop like a rock! If the Peach DOES come back, it may follow a similar path to Groove/Wild: start it on 105.3 or 105.7, then simulcast on 96.7.

I'm not a Rock listener, but with all of the negativity towards power, i believe they will put the "Project" format back on the airwaves.

They aren't staying. Mami Chula and Beeezy are making the move over on Tuesday. 105.7 will go jockless on Sat. and stunt on Monday. New format on 105.7 Tuesday, when Elvis Duran starts on Power.

With all the Hip-hop and pop in Atlanta, do you think that Atlanta needs a rhythmic station? I mean there are 12 soon to be 11 when wild does leave that play any form of this music. This is not a problem for me since i like this type of music and i'm glad Atlanta is getting its well needed true CHR but still. There's way to much.

I have given up on radio, this is just insanity, soon every station in ATL will be hip hop...

WILD seems to be jockless right now. Then again, this is normally Elvis Durans timeslot.

I guess this is what most of the Atlanta area wants. Living in Pittsburgh, ATL is CHR and urban heaven! We don't even have a urban! We wish we could borrow one of yours! Lol

I would gladly give you all of them...

Elvis Duran's producer says he effectively left Wild Yesterday.

Listening right now... the station is effectively urban now.

LOVELY...... ??? ???

Atlanta Urban:4 Pittsburgh:0 Come on! Lol

You have to remember Atlanta Metro is a huge black market, 2nd after NYC, in terms of population at least.

I know that, Detroit too. But see here we had a heritage Urban WAMO from 1973 to 2009 till religious people bought it and took over. Now we have this crap translator on 100.1 that's sort of like Wild before the launch of Power.

Again, this is probably temporary. V103, POWER, q100, Hot 107.9 and (to a lesser extent) KISS 104.1 are going to massacre WILD in it's current state.

Joe Breezy, normally the afternoon host, is on right now.
