More questions about this mess. Aside from CC being the notorious corporate "beast" since the get go, is it only the localized management for CC-Atlanta that's making such weird decisions, or are they known for lousing things up in many other markets as well? What I mean is, in so many other markets, I notice CC does very well. Especially CHR's and AC's as most of them are either number 1 in the market in the top 5. Then, there's Atlanta. Where CC stations barely reach the top 12!
As most know on here, I don't have the years, deep in the trenches of radio experience that a lot of you do. --The radio and music industry as well as pop-culture in general have been an obsession of mine since I was 5 years in Savannah....(WSGF 95.1) was one of the big stations, at that time, BTW).....long time ago.....AHEM...
My point to all this is, CC here in Atlanta really does seem to be run by monkeys. With mostly all lower rated stations, bad decisions....(i.e., not putting Project on diff signal, keeping WiLD as rhythmic while trying to push a brand new station playing the same rhythmic hits! Didn't they also louse up that whole WPCH/WLTM fiasco as well? Then, they killed 96 Rock and next, they killed Project....
....see what I mean?
The main reason I want to have high hopes for POWER is because...(point blank), ATLANTA is big enough that a HOT (fast-paced), "kiddie-land", TOP 40 station COULD do well here. Next, I look across the board at the Arbs, nationwide. CC CHR's seem to always be near or at the top. This is in a LOT of markets, small and large. Also, I like the way CC does CHR radio...(YES, that is in fact my preference, I know) But, that all goes back to my living in NYC and listening to the mighty Z100. They, are how you do pure CHR!
Sorry for rambling you guys....But, the question is, why is it primarily CC in Atlanta that makes such, seemingly obvious mistakes over and over and over?
Thanks for reading....it WAS to be just one simple question, correct? And then with added rants of silly, radio passion in between.....Got it!
