THE NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THE NYC COUNCIL ARE ACCUSING ARBITRON FOR BEING DISCRIMATORY AGAINST MINORITY FORMATTED STATIONS WITH THE PPM's.

WITH WBLS AND WRKS-FM IN THE TOP 10 IN AM DRIVE, DO THEY REALLY HAVE A CASE?

What an incredibly misleading heading to this thread! You should've said that none of those stations are in the top 10, according to the PPM, in AM drive, which, incidentally, is perfectly plausible (except maybe to David Eduardo). :)

Not to mention that the quoted statistics are 25-54....it would help to see breakdowns in some other demos as well, especially 18-34, as well as the 12+ (which stations don't really use, but just as a point of comparison with the published 12+ diary numbers).
 
Nice to see that no one in NY government has anything better to do than get AG opinions on private matters.

Looks like Arbitron needs to get rid of the diary system and starting the newest one, the PPM's. I don't see the Hudson Valley getting their PPM's yet, but the Arbitron still has HV ratings in the diary system for example the Spring book.

CBS-FM is tops at #3, I don't see it going to #1 yet, we shall see how CBS-FM is doing so well instead of this boring 80's music and some WBPM related crap like "Jack" did. WBPM which is "Classic Hits 92.9" in the Hudson Valley is playing "Jack" type music just like 101.1 circa 2005 until 2007 due to the absence of Howard Colgan, because he is doing TV commercials like Public Storage or some stuff.

Z-100 back to #1 for a while, Lite-FM, down again to #2, they got rid of Jim Ryan, because he is no longer being on that station for so long at Gotham City's Clear Channel, the one that Batman and Robin owns. All Access has reported a few days ago that Rob Williams is no longer working at the CC cluster, because he already step down. Thanks to Batman!

The other stations are spanish stations went down a little bit except for WCAA. Terrible in the PPM. WNYM, the third talk station in the nation after it flipped from religious WWDJ doesn't show a sigh of relief in the ratings. Too early to tell.

WRXP is going nowhere at 101.9. WRXP is going down the toilet, this station is a mockery to Woodstock's WDST at 100.1 in the HV listening area. What were they thinking?

"Fresh" and WPLJ are doing okay for the moment. Nothing can take a bite out of its PPM system. Big deal!!!!
 
Some interesting observations from the PPM numbers:

- EXTREMELY strong showings for WABC and Q104.3, which seem to be prime beneficiaries, so far, from the PPM system
- Very poor numbers for WCAA, which invested heavily in Luis Jimenez for the morning drive
- WRKS is the strongest "urban" station but they all are down compared to the diary numbers
- PLJ and Fresh are still behind most other commercial stations but see improved numbers in the PPM versus the diaries, at least in 12+
- K-Rock does slightly better than under the diary system, but is still weak overall

Now...

Whatever happened to those "strong" PPM numbers for RXP that we were promised here on this board? Here's a list of stations that are all higher than RXP, 12+: WLIB, WKJY, WBLI, WALK-FM, WNYC-FM, WKXW-FM, WQXR....four suburban stations, a classical station, a non-commercial station and a gospel station on AM all score higher than 'RXP, and K-Rock has more than double the 12+ numbers, while Q104.3 is #5 overall! There's a big loser in the three-way rock race, and it can be found on 101.9.

Also noteworthy: WLTW's online stream scores an 0.5!
