Predict The First Cancellation Of The 2010-11 Season

It appears as if this is the eighth ABC vehicle Julie Benz has appeared in. "Hi, Honey, I'm Home," anyone?

You know you're watching television because in real life nobody as good looking as Julie Benz would end up marrying a guy that looks like "Vic Mackey." ;D

I resemble that...as the joke goes. My wife isn't a Julie Benz type, but she's quite beautiful, and I resemble Vic Mackey more than I'd care to admit. Actually, Chiklis has obviously been working out, and has gotten quite buff since his Commish (fat) days - maybe he looks better...

So far we have 6 canceled shows:

Lone Star on FOX, Undercovers and Outlaw on NBC, My Generation and The Whole Truth on ABC, and if you count cable, add on Caprica on SyFy. Who's next?

Here yet is another example where spin-offs of original series don't necessarily work.

It does not surprise me that Caprica was cancelled. The second season, to put it bluntly, sucked big time.

Viewers, at least yours truly, wanted to see the rise of the Cylon machines and their revolt against humanity plus the creation of the colonial fleet. The show could have also focused on the unification of the 12 planets. Instead viewers were subjected to a soap opera about Sister Clarice, her religious group, and the mafia-style take over of Greystone Industries. The second season was just plain boring.

SyFy was smart to just scrap this program.

As for the question "who's next", my personal feeling is that these shows won't be renewed.

You're right; Caprica's second season did suck! At least SyFy executives had the guts to say: Good riddance!

Every time I see Chiklis it reminds me of Curly Howard.

Never saw Caprica, but from what you're describing, it's a "prequel". Those have to be among the most difficult concepts to get right, so much that I'm surprised people are still trying them. In movies, Star Wars' three prequels had many of the same problems you describe in Caprica, and Star Trek struggled with Enterprise.

With a sequel, you start where the previous work left off, but from there, you're free to be creative. With a prequel, you're working toward an ending already known.
